Watermelons are one of the best summer treats!! The best come from the area around Hempstead, Texas (about an hour northwest of Houston) and are bought from the various roadside stands. Served ice cold with some lime (if you like) and you are in heaven!!!! I drive up to Hempstead, Texas once a week during the watermelon season to buy one for me and some for friends. Watermelons, along with air conditioning make the Texas heat bearable!!!!!
