So, earlier this week I was checking the ads at backpage as I often do, and noticed something I hadn't seen before. Scrolling down the page far enough, I found a section that said "additional ads," with dates that start from the present time back. I don't know how many people are even aware that current ads can be found that far down the page, so I wonder what the criteria is for that system. I don't know whether one can choose to be listed that way or whether the site just does that somehow. Anyone know how that works, and/or why?

I don't see it. Which section of backpage were you browsing?

The male escort section on the Boston site. If you scroll down, the initial set of ads goes back as far as Aug 1, but then right below that it starts over again, as it were, with "additional ads" dated today and back.

I'm not sure when they started doing this, but you can sort by "top" "gallery" or "date". The default sort is "top" which shows most popular ads by date above the additional ads. I don't know what criteria they're using. This change was put in place recently. I don't think that there was a top feature up until a few months ago, and the sort by date gives you the presentation you're accustomed to.

Thanks! That's exactly it - I put it on the "date" setting and it fixed the problem.
