Yes maybe but this new "outing" episode, combined with some of Mr. Wolfe's previous "questionable" behavior that I had been leaning toward overlooking, nails the door shut for me. I have lost any desire I may have had to ever meet him.

Perhaps he read this thread or got wind of it through someone who did and woke up to the inanity of his action and removed it. May Austin and all of us learn from this the futility of attack and revenge, regardless of the misperception that it brings momentary relief, momentary being the operative word, and then leaves us feeling worse than before the attack.

I have no way of knowing what Austin or anyone feels, but even if it is "only" because of a concern for business it still has been removed and therefore ceases to cause more damage to himself and the target of his attack, which, truthfully speaking, all attack is self-attack. To think that to attack another is some kind of ticket to peace and happiness is the insanity that is the cause of all wars and assault. Each one of us stopping the war inside is the only one that will bring about the peace in the world that everyone claims to want, yet we feel like attacking each other in even the smallest ways is somehow different and justifiable.

Austin had been on my lust list for a while and when I visited NYC earlier this year, I scheduled some time with him. We met for dinner and I arrived a few minutes late. I've checked out his Twitter feed on a few occasions, and to my mind, Wolf has serious self-esteem issues. He is often boastful, refers to his 'fame' rather frequently, and as discussed in this thread, basically flips out if a potential client approaches him to negotiate rates. It's one thing to berate the client privately -- if even that is truly worth it (a simple "NO" would suffice) -- but to post that man's photos publicly is a step too far. That type of behavior, all told, reveals a very, very fragile ego.

Honestly, I met with Austin a number of times years ago. He was very sweet to me and never bragged about how great he was or how fabulous his life was. He was also very gentlemanly-like and somewhat protective when we went out on the town (and I'm only like an inch or two shorter than he is).

 

I don't know how he is now; if the years since we met, the "biz" has hardened him; or he has always been this way, but just acted differently around me. I don't agree with some of the things he's done. However, somewhere in there is a sweet guy. Whatever changed him, if anything did change him... I hope he can come to peace with it and come out a better person in the end.
