Backpage giving away FREE ads

this probably isn't of any interest to the escorts here, but apparently backpage is offering free ads til their credit card stuff is sorted.

 

Personally, I'm Considering popping up a couple of ads just to take advantage of it...but I'm proceeding with caution. I noticed my area has seen a HUGE surge in the already surge of (mostly fake/phony/east coast numbers) ads. Seems like putting an ad up in a large market will be like flagging a taxi in the middle of I-95 traffic.

 

I kind of wonder if it's even worth paying nothing to advertise on backpage though. It's such a headache nowadays, I'd only use it in places where a new ad appears maybe every few days. Not 20 guys a day all piling up on top of each other trying to reach the same $100/hr client. I'm curious of any other escorts will brave advertising there, during this "opportune" time. I would advise clients contacting guys to be cautious also, since it's free...the fakes are likely out full swing.

Well, that's what it's become. But, I've met some (past tense) good clients from there everything from architects to lawyers to business owners. However, these goddamn fake ads which I just ripped on in the deli, have ran all the good clients off.

 

I'm hoping backpage will start making some changes, because it's a potentially good site. Public classifieds can be very good since straight/curious men usually find them first. But to make it useful, people need to stop dicking around and drop those zero men and sign some heroes.

Since I look at backpage frequently and I hire from there and consider myself a good customer, I would say , 'yes', it is worth a try to advertise there. I do realize they have a much greater percentage of phonies, but I am usually able to weed them out by asking if their pics are real, or asking for an additional pic or two.

 

After all, it's free, and if you get some bookings out of it, you are ahead of the game (other than having to deal with some flaky customers, but you have to that anywhere, I would think).

See...this is where legalizing prosititute would be beneficial, despite what I was saying in another thread about how I believe it would be so overly regulated it wouldn't be fun.

 

Now, the above situation is very predictable. Girl gets killed, police runs stings, starts arresting straight male johns. It just goes to show how stupid and greedy politics and the human race as a whole is. The news article said they don't even know if there's any connection to backpage. They just assume it had something to do with backpage, and they don't even reveal what this girls as offering,

 

I wouldn't think any gay escorts would need to be concerned, because clearly this sting was targeted and had a purpose of finding who killed the girl, but by directing unwarranted prosecution of innocent men.

Each locale is different for me, in some places BP works well and in others it is awful but to be honest it is minimal effort and upkeep and I get quite a few clients, just be prepared that it might be ugly for a little bit.

To stand out to the few clients who do still check there, just be different, don't use any stupid emojis in your title or bio, just look professional.

Craigslist isn't all that bad. In some small towns, it is the only site that clients know about. I'm actually using it now, and I've gotten 10 responses versus the 0 to my men4rent and RM ads so far. Why? CL has a steady stream of guys, the escort sites always have the same guys. Most of these escort sites have become stagnant in smaller markets and clients have stopped looking at them.

 

You ask, why bother with small towns? Well...it's the hand some people are dealt. Plus, I'm curious and I know there's some extremely repressed men out there, who are willing to pay much more than the guys in the big cities used to finding full service escorts for $100.

 

But you have a point...I have pretty much phased out of backpage because of too many flakes, weird callers, and just plain annoying shit. So with backpage, it's really a city by city basis. I'm not as hungry for business as I used to be anymore, so backpage got cut from the team.
