Hey All

I'll be coming to DC March 4 - 8. I already have my hotel but was hoping to get some info on things to do (and I'm not talking about all the tourist museums and momuments). Does Green Latern still have the shirtless night and if so, is it worth it? I been to Club Crew many years ago -- is it any better? What are the good bar and bar nights in the Dupont Circle or downtown area (not real crazy about going to SE area of town since I will not have a car). Also, any good gym suggestions.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Cobalt/Green Lantern/Lizard Lounge

A great source for nightlife and other activites going on in D.C. is Metro Weekly, which is on line. I also personally happen to think it is one of the best done gay publications I have ever seen in any city. They are on the web, including up to date calendar and listing sections here: http://www.metroweekly.com/

I had fun just walking around to visit all the Dupont Circle bars one night, at most I did not drink (I usually rarely do). I mostly people watched and walked through a few. Many are neighborhood type bars, with fairly mixed crowds. Apex has a women's night with a great DJ, I think it was on Sunday night, which was fun but no place to cruise for boys. There were certainly guys there, but it was more about dancing and relaxing.

Green Lantern is still going strong and I would also recommend Cobalt on a Friday or Saturday night to cruise/dance, relax. It is my personal favorite. Lizard Lounge is Sunday nights and still going on, I would highly recommend it as well. It has my favorite type of dance music, the closest to California circuit music, which might not be typical to what you might hear in say Chicago or your home town.

Oh, you can have a great time without a car. Cabs go by zones and there is a flat rate per zone. The most I think I ever paid was $10, including tip, or I took the Metro. I would buy one of the passes for the Metro if you think you will use it a lot.

Green Lantern still has their "Shirtless Men Drink Free" night on Thursday from 10-11pm. I can't say how good it is, since I've only been once and only by accident (I won't go shirtless in public for any number of free drinks :) ).

Outside of Secrets in SE DC (which you've ruled out), my current favorite gay bar in DC is Cobalt at 17th and R Street NW.

"(I won't go shirtless in public for any number of free drinks)".

Same here man. Of course the rest of the crowd might buy me a drink not to do so! Ooooh, hair, gross! :)

IMO, most of the guys who go shirtless those nights are frat boys (most str8) who come in so they can drink enough free to get totally shitfaced, never leave the bartender even a $1 tip, get rowdy and trashy. Most of the bartenders I talk to HATE shirtless night because they get treated like SHIT. :(
