the subject of tattoos comes up. I consider that trend to be a trajedy. One of my fondest wishes is that the tattoo fad play itself out before not just one, not just two, but now three generations disfigure their bodies permanently due to this craze. It's getting to be really hard to find escorts (or anyone, really) who aren't all scribbled up with ink. When I find them I snatch them up and compliment them for not falling for that fad and to encourage them to not go for the ink.

If stating my opinion deters one person from getting tatted or tatted more it's worth it to me.

 

Ok, we may have to make a separate thread on this lol. But You just touched on something I was just discussing on another website. I don't have any tattoos, and in the gay community, especially the "in" guys....every guy has one, or 20 to be more precise. Not having any myself, I feel like it's harder to fit in nowadays. You have to smoke cigarettes, "PARTY", or have tattoos to really connect with a lot of people. On the surface, people think I'm some boring church boy. Until they find out otherwise.

 

I like tattoos on guys, I have no qualms. but I'm starting to discover more and more, most of them aren't very nice people. Now, I know there are guys I'm cool with in the industry who have tons of tattoos and are good guys. Don't get me wrong. But on a grand scale of things, I'm not as crazy about guys with tattoos because they turn out to be CRAZY.

 

I still can't get over the fact that an HIV+ guy who had a sleeve of tattoos on both arms had the nerve to sit in my house and say, "I can't date an escort and risk anymore health issues". Clearly he must have missed the study that says a tattooed person is 6 times more likely to get/be carriers of Hepatitis C. Just thought it was rather judgemental coming from such a seemingly free spirited individual.

I've never used BackPage before but with a trip to Tampa coming up, when I saw this thread I checked out the male escorts in Tampa and damn there are some hot ones and almost all black (my personal favorites). You are a brave soldier. But among the few. How do you find out a price when 100% of them don't list anything about donation? Sounds like a way to get into negotiating and price-naming. Like tanman mentioned, I do feel there's a lot of lookers, but the actually number of clients booking from it seems to be receding, like the Miami guy said.

 

In my area, there's new ads popping up daily, but its mixed in with a lot of straight "women only" ads. However, I think the one thing that keeps many genuine escorts away is the fact that the majority of calls from backpage are just a headache. Flakes, flakes, flakes. And not even normal understandable stuff, just really obvious faffing around types. Not to mention, I advertise there only because it's not expensive, like $2 per ad, but some are $5 per ad which then becomes a waste of money.

 

I use it locally because I've blocked most of the dimwits, but I rarely use it for traveling unless there's very few other ads. With backpage, the more ads posted, the less productive it becomes.

Ok, this is getting interesting. So being that you've met numerous from back page, what is generally the going rate being given?

 

Not that it matters to you, but I'm curious because Ive had a backpage ad up without rates, but oftentimes (not all the time) they want a someone to see them for pennies on the dollar. And even though some may say, move on to the next....who wants to keep getting calls where people don't want to pay the rate?

 

So if these guys aren't charging anymore than $100, then clearly it would explain the lowball offers. There may be some expectation to be had.

Guys I've seen from BP have quoted between $150 and $250 per hour. $170/hour may be the median or close to it. This is in the Northeast, Southeast and Midwest. Some have been much more generous than that with their time once they met me and decided I was not entirely creepy. In such cases I have tried to repay their generosity. (However I've never encountered any offers to haggle, nor have I ever done so.)

I'm pretty new to "hiring" only used 2 guys from BP, definitely both very hunky rough around the edges type but both very disappointing unfortunately. Both I met up at a local "no tell motel" because they, as you described, said this was a side job, they had girlfriends and they wanted no one to know. Definitely not professional escorts and they had no idea what they were doing other than getting the sex out of the way and getting their money? One has a severe drug problem (confirmed too by someone else who contacted me direct here), he was very high when I met him. I haven't used any guy yet from RB, RN, M4RN. I'm sure there's challenges and disappoints with them too.

Talking a couple of minutes by phone is a very good idea to help decide if the guy is somebody you want to meet. You can learn a lot more that way than just texting (or emailing). Of course I think that makes sense for any hire, not just from BP.

I'm beginning to become...actually, I already AM; convinced that men4rent is becoming another Backpage. So the disappointments may have began to follow suit. I also have seen guys start off on backpage, and then later on have ads on men4rent or even rentboy.

 

I know it sounds like I'm being pessimistic, but I've met clients from classified ads, and ask them what other sites they know of. Very often they say men4rent. One guy said men4rent, followed by "but I don't do that no more"...just before handing me my $200.

 

The ad market is odd right now. I know I may sound not very in-demand, but I have a tour coming up which looks good, but there's no 1 site I can rely on. Men4rent alone isn't reliable. Ditto with backpage, Adam, rentaboy, and rentaman. The highly aggressive and rapid-fire postings of backpage ads says that many of these guys aren't too busy themselves.
