Vice President Joe Biden announced Saturday that his son, Beau, has died of brain cancer. Beau Biden was 46.

"It is with broken hearts that Hallie, Hunter, Ashley, Jill and I announce the passing of our husband, brother and son, Beau, after he battled brain cancer with the same integrity, courage and strength he demonstrated every day of his life," the vice president said in a statement late Saturday.

"The entire Biden family is saddened beyond words. We know that Beau's spirit will live on in all of us, especially through his brave wife, Hallie, and two remarkable children."

I don't know if this should be in the politics forum or in the lounge, the Mgt. should move it as they wish.

No child is to go before their parents. It is an unnatural order.

When a wife dies, her husband is a widower. When a husband dies, his wife becomes a widow. When parents die, their children are called orphans. There is no word or name for the parent whose child dies. Parents burying children is unnatural.

In December 1972, Joseph Biden's wife and one-year old daughter were killed in a terrible car accident. His sons Beau and Hunter survived the accident. Biden had just been elected in the Senate that November.

Very sad that the vice president has now lost a daughter and a son as well as his first wife.

Yes, and yet has served his country in the senate commuting every day from Delaware to DC by Amtrak while maintaining his home in Wilmington.

When he was elected VP he was worth only 400K.

To me the following is a Gay Rights LGBT post that is not democratic or republican political based, but rather human rights based:

We owe a lot to Joe Bidden and I'm sure his son, Beau(a beautiful 1st name). Joe supported gay marriage BEFORE anyone else in the White House (any POTUS, not just BO) and certainly did a lot to move our rights forward more quickly that I EVER IMAGINED. A true caring person and family man, no mater how families define themselves. I was watching the show Meet The Press on May 6th, 2012 when he made the big national coverage announcement. I'll never forget. See segment after 30 second nbc pre-play ad (well worth watching the entire 2.30 minute segment):

then in June of last year VP Joe Biden doubled down (after another 30 second commercial) this segment really well worth watching:

IMHO VP Bidden is human rights hero supporting true family rights within the United States (including human rights).
