Has anyone else noticed a sharply reduced number of choices in Seattle and Portland since the end of the year? With the arrival of spring, I expected the seasonal fluctuation to be on the upswing, however, I am noticing fewer and fewer ads in April.

 

Portland used to have quite an interesting stable of locals, but now there is barely a handful, and only 2 or 3 look at all promising. The men4rentnow site seems to have cleaned house and reduced the number of their ads by more than a third. One escort told me they were uncompetitive in what they charged to advertise and also that ads tended to stay up long after the client had moved to another city and stopped paying them. The number of Seattle ads used to be in the upper 40s, but now only in the low 20s. Something must have changed.

 

Also, a lot of the guys who live in the Seattle area who used to host now do only out calls. Possibly increasing rents have resulted in people moving to cheaper places with roommates, etc. Or, it may be just a fluke.

All escorts I've met told me that Portland and Seattle aren't very good for them, way too many trips breaking even or just doubling your money.

The numbers in Detroit have dropped down drastically in the past couple of months also. Maybe this isn't limited to the PNW?

Interesting. I did see one ad for a guy that ALMOST made me want to get on a plane to Detroit. There is another magnificent specimen in Philly. I am taking a 3 day mid-week vacation down to Portland to sample the local talent there next week. Also, I really like Portland, so it will be a change of scene--only 4 hours away by train which is very scenic and a fun trip.

I've been looking at Seattle ads for years even before I moved here. There were more escorts back say in the years of 2005 to 2007. Back then even the Seattle Gay News would run a few escort ads. It still has the escort section but often there is only one ad there. Rentboy has almost never had 40 escorts here. The most I've seen is probably in the 30's.

 

M4RN does seem to have reduced the absolute number of escorts that they are showing-but usually on M4RN the last page and a half were inactive ads. So the fact that there aren't as many inactive ads on M4RN right now hasn't actually changed the number of escorts actually escorting. Just within the last week to 10 days, Rentboy actually had a total of around 33 escorts listed in Seattle although today I notice it's around 22 which is more normal.

 

Portland goes up and down too. I've seen the city only have two or three ads on Rentboy for long periods of time. Currently it has 15. Most of them are not particularly my cup of tea. But both Seattle and Portland are known for tattoos/new agey/alternative vibe. M4RN just as in Seattle has also cleaned out a lot of inactive ads for Portland which makes the numbers seem less.
