A child star who appeared on “Everybody Loves Raymond” for a decade is dead at 19. The family of Sawyer Sweeten, who played one of the twin sons of Ray Romano’s character on the TV show, said he took his own life early Thursday.

“Sawyer was visiting family in Texas,” an anonymous source told Radar Online. “He went on the front porch and killed himself with a gunshot to his head.”

“This morning a terrible family tragedy has occurred. We are devastated to report that our beloved brother, son, and friend, Sawyer Sweeten, took his own life,” a statement issued by Sweeten’s older sister Madilyn, who also appeared on the show, read, as Fox reported. “He was weeks away from his 20th birthday. At this sensitive time, our family requests privacy and we beg of you to reach out to the ones you love.”

Sawyer appeared with Madilyn and his real-life twin, Sullivan, on “Everybody Loves Raymond” for the show’s whole run from 1996 to 2005. He was just 18 months old when his television career began.

Very sad to hear this. Just this morning before I read this post I was watching some Everyone Loves Raymond bloopers and distinctly remember a couple scenes with the twins and thinking how good they were for being so young.
