I remember once going to a retrospective screening of one of Sal Mineo's early films, GIANT. He wasn't the main star, in fact I don't think he appeared till nearly the end of the film. When he did show up on screen, there were audible gasps in the audience - he was startlingly handsome and young and exuded a sweetness, not unlike Lucky Daniels. (And no, it wasn't a particularly 'gay' audience at that screening.) I'll bet Rock Hudson chased him around that set more than once!
