I make a guest appearance in episode 7! Abel and I give our thoughts on legal issues surrounding escorting.

Hey guys... nice chemistry between the two of you!

Regarding the topic of the police and male escorting, many years ago I saw an escort in NYC who for a period of time was located in a building that was situated right next door to the local police precinct. I recall being a bit taken aback the first time that I hired the guy as there were all sorts of police officers and police vehicles in front of the building.

Now obviously the escort was an S&M specialist and had quite a bit of esoteric equipment. One of the more "interesting" contraptions was a device for electrical cock and ball torture whereby the victims cock and balls were screwed down and wired to the most outrageous looking appliance prior to the juice bring applied... (Of course that was the younger and less sane WG!) In any event, I asked where he obtained such a lethal piece of equipment and his response was that it was a loaner from the local precinct police chief... Yes, the chief who was located exactly in the adjacent building! In fact the chief had loaned him quite a few other accoutrements as the chief lived with his mother and obviously did not want mommy dearest to uncover any such gadgets.

In any event, I often wondered if the objects were the result of police raids or possibly were ever used during police interrogations... Well, all kidding aside, it does indicate that at times the local authorities can indeed be quite friendly to the male escort community.

The clincher... the escort was a lawyer... and I'm sure knew his legal rights... and even with a cop as a client!

That brings me to one final story... years ago at the New York Bondage Club there was a wild scene going on... A bunch of guys were seated in a half circle watching and one person exclaimed, "Shoot! I'm twenty years on the force and I've never seen anything like this before!" Proof again that at least some in law enforcement are definitely playing on our side of the fence!

Very personable and I liked Kevin's advice, which I've heard before, but thankfully have never had to use; "I don't consent to this search"

.....and #shutthefuckup.

I also like Kevin's point about the gay community being a powerful voting block, I think far more truth to that than we realize.

Disclaimer: The only criminal law I've dealt with as a lawyer was tax law (I reviewed proposed tax prosecutions and signed off on them for the IRS). But when I was practicing, I was admitted in the state of NY, among others (and took all three stinking bar exams to do it, too).

Despite Abel's statement (and Daddy's on another thread), whether an escort is getting paid for time/companionship and not sex would fly as a defense in the US is questionable. I would not rely on it. I also believe entrapment doesn't mean what Abel thinks it means. It means "putting the idea in the person's mind." An undercover cop making an appointment with a male escort is not engaged in entrapment as long as he doesn't initiate and waits for the escort to suggest or engage in activities. An undercover cop placing the idea of killing someone in someone's mind, or of committing some other crime, is engaged in entrapment.

There's no real upside for police to go after male escorts who aren't involved in drug dealing or other trafficking. Street prostitution, brothels, underage prostitution, and female escorts receive more scrutiny because of public nuisance aspects and greater degree of trafficking/coercion of female sex workers compared to male.

Don't consent to a search and don't speak to the police (or STFU) are the most pertinent pieces of advice.

Ha! Got me there. That was the one about legal issues where I disagreed with some of Abel's conclusions. And while I didn't disagree with yours, as a fellow quant geek I get more excited over your use of charts and graphs.

I found Abel's take on the whole escort name issue quite interesting. Plus I thought that the marketing aspect to his choice for his stage name was quite savvy as well.

It's funny how some guys divulge their real name instantly and others prefer that veil of privacy. As "Abel" said, the client is buying a fantasy and as such I personally could care less one way or the other about knowing an escort's real name. I prefer what the escort prefers as that makes the whole relationship feel more comfortable. Plus some escorts don't look or act like their real names and I find knowing it is more than a bit disconcerting as in hiring a guy for BDSM only to discover that his real name is Poindexter. Not that there's anything wrong with the name Poindexter!

In any event, my funniest real name story concerns a favorite escort of mine. As we were lying there after the fact, he was reminiscing about something in his childhood and said that his mother would yell at him and say, "Now Arthur! You stop doing that right now or else!" He then paused and said, "Oh well! Now you know my real name. I've always hated that name!" My "Sergeant Shultz like" response was, "Don't worry! I never heard it!"

I've not seen any of these until now - I just watched about ten of them in the series.

I have to say that Abel is awesome in these - he seems like one of those people who are both clever and gorgeous but who's real appeal is a sort of self-effacing charm and warmth of soul.

I'd love to meet him and he's on my short list; as someone above observed, I think lots of guys would really benefit by production of a video where you can get a sense of their personality.

(By the way - am I the only one that was wondering what it would be like to tug Kevin's hoodie zipper down with my teeth? Is that a fetish? I hope not because I don't have any kinks or fetishes ;) )
