Has anyone here have an experience with the no reserve travel bid site, Sky Auction? I have a client who is willing to make a deal on a cruise to South America if I can make it a reasonable proposition to both of us.

Having taken a look at the site, it seems interesting to those who enjoy travel.

I have used them a couple times. I took flights to the Dominican Repuplic and Brazil. I found a couple ways to make it work best: wait to the last minute - literally, the very last minute - before you put in your bid. You then don't suffer the chance to be overbid. They often feature the same trips on a weekly basis; it pays to follow the trips you want to see how the prices go. Also viewing the previous winning bids will give you an idea what they go out for. The down side is that you have to be ready to finalize your dates to travel within 3 days of winning the bid and there is usually no cancellation or changes possible.

Does anyone remember http://www.biddingfortravel.com? That's a very worthwhile site augmenting Priceline. Browse around, there may well be a Sky Auction section in that site somewhere or other.

I read the NY times article too and asked someone who is into those sites...i was told that you can get good deals there but read carefully...sometimes certains things are not included or there might be fees charged.

Read carefully to make sure you know what is included...one thing the person didn't like was if hotel was included...they would just say a 3-star or 4-star hotel and you wouldn't actually know the name of the hotel...so that might be a problem if you don't like being surprised...

i know a lot of people who use http://www.luxurylink.com and love it.

good luck and I hope it works out..;-)
