>Can you imagine this board if everyone posted like <name

>deleted>? x( Now THAT would suck!

Good god! You have got to be fucking kidding me. So Hooboy considers the above statement such a horrible and vicious personal attack that it MUST be edited/censored. It would appear that we're not only facing censorship, but censorship to the extreme and ridiculous.

It's unfortunate, but this is going to become a very boring place very quickly. :(

I sincerely wish that Message Center members will refrain from personal attacks. Such attacks make all of us look mean and ugly and they stink up my forum.

Spirited arguments and debate are fine, but when I see folks calling each other names, using language not fit for polite company, I am saddened. I am ashamed that I host a platform for this dialog and I am embarrassed for those that are rightly offended.

Please, aim your slings and arrows at the issues and not the individuals. If you disagree, then agree to do so and move on.

If you cannot state your case without making disparaging remarks about the person you disagree with, then please take your arguments to another forum or start your own. I am not advocating everyone become pansy-assed, I just do not think it is too much to expect civility in my place.

And if the moderators edit or delete attacks, I am behind them.

That is my wish for 2004.

Censorship is wrong. I deplore it. But when you are sick and have to throw up, hopefully you’ll have self control not to vomit on everyone around you.

There was absolutely no reason to punctuate your argument by singling out another member of this board as a “SUCK” contributor other than to draw me into a standoff. You not only chose an escort in your smear but a regular and valuable contributor to this website.

The guy you flamed probably has thick skin and may have laughed it off. But to come so close on the heels of my appeals for civility was insulting to me and to every other member of this board who would like to see a semblance of respect for human beings around here. Being interesting should not hinge on degrading other people here.

Have you no sense of decency, sir?

I admit that my history is littered with blunders. I regret it and I hope I did not hurt someone along the way with my words, actions or deeds.

Being careful for what I wish, I hope I learned from my mistakes and a better internet community will result. No doubt, I may screw up again but I am always willing to make a course correction.

I look forward to a better 2004. It has to start somewhere; here and now feels right to me.

Hmmm ... I wonder what happened to Posts #56, #57, & #58?

However justified, censorship just plain sucks!

It takes a big and mature person to learn from his mistakes and to proceed with life. That is what being a human is about.

Keep up the GQQK WORK!

It certainly does. But what kind of person is it who keeps repeating the same pattern over and over and over again -- for example, going through periods in which he deplores the lack of civility on this message center, followed by periods in which he himself indulges in the very sort of personal attacks he earlier deplored, followed by more hand-wringing over lack of civility, followed by more attacks, and so on? I've been the target of personal attacks from one or two people here who fit that description. What I would say about that kind of person is that either he has a truly miraculous ability to forget his own past behavior, or he just likes to jerk people around.

Actually, Lucky, I'm quite intelligent and nothing went over my head. Instead, the poster prefers to see his name in print and make sure that new posters know who NOT to question. Only the first objective was accomplished.

How do you reconcile this with your defense of censorship on the other thread?
