I have decided to celebrate my birthday in New Orleans this year-since Las Vegas is to much $$$$(superbowl weekend)Found a great package on United-$500 roundtrip/nonstop and 3 nights in a really nice hotel.

Any RECENT reports?

Does anyone have any tour contacts/recomendations?

Thanks

Can you use it for a city other than New Orleans? I'd have to vote with EXPAT, that New Orleans is in need of a serious facelift on both infrastructure and attitude toward gays. Was there for Southern Decadence this past summer, and had a truly awful time.

We stayed at the Maison Dupuy, one of the better hotels in the French quarter. The Maison Dupuy is in dire need of a rebuild. Small rooms, few ammenities but a friendly staff.

Eating out was good. NOLA restaurant, operated by TV chef Emeril Legasse was excellent. Several local options were quite good. Lots of absolute dreck around though.

Of most concern is the attitude of locals toward gay visitors. I felt like the unwanted guest. Not good.

RE: New Orleans Sucks!

But I have it on good authority that the strippers there let you suck their dicks right out in the open...for a buck a suck!:p

RE: New Orleans Sucks!

Well I hope that I have a better time than EBG and Expat did!I booked the package today. The hotel is a converted bank about 3/4 mile from the quarter-I saw LOTS of reports of small roomed run down hotels in the quarter so I was pleased to get this place for about $60 a night in the package.

If any of you have been there within the last couple of months(or any natives)if you would be kind enough to report, thanks.

RE: New Orleans Sucks!

I visit NO often. For a great meal I recommend Jac Imo's, Galitois, and K Pauls. For escorts I recommend Brandon Baker. I have met him 3 times this year and will write a review shortly.

The guys are right that the quarter needs a good facelift. But, don't be mistaken, it's entertaining. Always has been and will be. The reverund has crawled back in his hole since Decadence and things are back to normal. The bars can be lots of fun and it is not difficult to pick someone up. NO is not the best place for escorts but there are a few.

Have a good time!

My best recommendation is to book your hotel through priceline after checking http://www.biddingfortravel.com. I got the InterContinental for $70, and it was outstanding. The Sunday Jazz Brunch there is the best I've had in my life.

Thanks Unicorn,I am a faithful reader and poster on bidding for travel, and I do a lot of bidding on Priceline. But in this instance I was able to get a very nice(high three star-almost a four)hotel through a padkage that was bundled with the EXACT flights I wanted for aproxematly the same as PL.They did offer the same package-with an opaque flight-for $20 less than I paid, but this way I get miles and hotel loyalty perks as well.

Also checked out Southwest-since when is United cheaper than Southwest?

Big Guy, Something I forgot to mention is that the best bar for dancers, at present, seems to ge 7th Circle at 820 N. Rampart. The guys take it all off and wave it in your face. The hottest dancers ate at Oz and Bourbon Pub.

Have a good time.

What is the normal procedure for securing some private time with one of these fellas? Is this done?Is it safe? What is the going rate?

Kjun, some friends have warned me that rampart is less than safe-what is your take on this?

I was also told of a place called the Double Play-any comments?

This does work differently in New Orleans. There is no such thing as a "private" in the Canadian sense. If you like one of the dancers just approach him and ask if he does escort work. Almost all do. There is the occasional who doesn't. Work a deal and you may usually go back to his hotel with him. I have never heard of any problems with one of these arrangements. This is because they are known to the place and they use reputable and known people. The rate vaies between $150 and $225 at Oz and Bourbon Pub and less at other places. Corner Pocket is about $50 to $75. They are twinks. There is the occasional hottie there who will charge more. It's all up to you and your taste.

Rampart is somewhat unsavory. I usually go with a couple of friends and have never had any problem nor heard of any recently. If you have a concern take a taxi there.

Double Play was a Dyke/Trannie bar the last time I was there. May have changet but it has never been high on the list.

Check this site out for general information on NO bars: http://www.gayneworleansguide.com/clubs.htm

Escort seems to be correct on all his comments. The only thing I can say is that I have never had any trouble on Rampart and none of my friends have told me anything negative about it.

Thanks to all who have chimed in.

I do not go till the end of January-so if anyone has anything else to add please do.

And if any cute boys out there in New Orleans want to be taken out to dinner-please private me!

Has anybody been to the casino there?Worth a trip?

I live an hour away from the Big Easy and use almost all the escorts that cum through there. Watch the message board for the Traveling Escorts and they post when they will be in town. Rob, Ky, will be in next week for a porker tournament at Harray's and is not dancing at Oz but you will be here after he leaves. Its been a while since SmallTownJohn has been through. Heard from him a few days ago, saying he would be here soon but did not know exactly when though, great top, even a better person. Lots to do there, music, food, art, culture, ect. The local escort scene is not very good, there are several new guys on men4rentnow(sorry Hooboy) that I have not seen yet but will in the near future. The bars, Oz and Pub, have great strippers and yes the Conner Pocket is well known for it Twinks. You will be here right before Mardi Gras so it will be kinda slow but there is always something to do. Have a great time while you are here. :D

What about Dirk? He has some very good reviews and appears to be good looking? Does anyone have any experience with him or know about him

> Isn't it

>supposed to be a little sleezy in New Orleans?

You bet it is! That is what makes it unique. And if you like a little sleaze, and strippers who go further than they do at Corner Pocket, try the "7th Circle" bar on Rampart Street. It is right across from the big sign at the entrance of the Louie Armstrong park on Rampart. The "7th Circle" has become my favorite bar in NOLA.

Have been with Dirk a couple of times; very nice guy, easy to deal with. I found his reviews quite accurate. Also, Ryan Matthews is good, another who lives up to his reviews. Would recommend both of these guys.
