Snipers, heroes, cowards or just a tough job. A movie about an unpopular war.

U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle (Bradley Cooper) takes his sole mission -- protect his comrades -- to heart and becomes one of the most lethal snipers in American history. His pinpoint accuracy not only saves countless lives but also makes him a prime target of insurgents. Despite grave danger and his struggle to be a good husband and father to his family back in the States, Kyle serves four tours of duty in Iraq. However, when he finally returns home, he finds that he cannot leave the war behind.

"no good Iraqi but a dead Iraqi, confusing Vietnam with Iraq" opinion of another critic.

Have you ever seen an American film about World War II which shows the Germans as heroic? The nature of these films is such that it is difficult to not take a point of favor making heroes on one side and demonizing the other. I am interested in seeing this film, I expect to exit it feeling very strongly one way or the other. I would hope it would make me think and not just make me feel. Clearly some of the commenters cited above did not have the film make them think and some of their comments suggest that a think-less state is nothing new for them.

This movie made me angry, to say the least.

For Kyle to have gone through 4 tours, with a bounty on his head, only to be killed by 'friendly fire' Stateside, is totally stunning.

Our Vetrerans deserve better, and those that that sent them need to step-up to the line!

The veteran I feel sorry for is the one that shot Kyle. He was disturbed and had many problems post serving so some dumb asses took him to a shooting range. Some extreme forms of dumb can't be comprehended. And its interesting Kyle (and then his estate/book seller) lost a $1.8 million lawsuit brought by Jesse Ventura.
