Yule is a celebration of the returning of the light to the earth, and is also known as the Winter Solstice. The holiday celebration normally starts at sundown of the day before.

The Window Solstice is the shortest day of the year, and starts at 8:48 pm PST on the 21st. The sun will now begin to set later each day, signaling the start of the new year.

This year is extra special because the Moon is at Perigee at 12:53am on the 21st and so is at its closest point in its orbit.
