adam4adam for friends?

I re-joined adam4adam recently to follow escort postings. I posted only the barest of information to satisfy the requirement that I post a profile. I figured that since I had to check an activity category, I thought I'd select only 'looking for friends' since I am trying to broaden my social circle now that I'm retired and have more time to spend with others. After looking at profiles of, first, the escorts, then, second, all the young (under 45) hotties of interest to me (ABC - Anything But Caucasian) I started looking at age-appropriately (I'm 65) profiles. While many men had checked that they were interested in meeting new friends, their profiles suggested that they were really there for hookups.

 

Has anyone on this forum created a profile on adam4adam solely for the purpose of meeting new people with whom you could share common interests? If so, were you successful?

 

I could create a profile under something close to my real name with real and more complete information, but I don't want to go through the effort if the site doesn't really work for that purpose.

 

Going the other way have you seen anyone who has specifically said he's there only to hire escorts?

PS. I was impressed with the "new" (to me) A4A site. At first I was a bit disconcerted to find that anyone whose profile I'd viewed could see that I'd done that. I did see the 'hide my last visit button' but decided I didn't really need to do that most of the time. Now it seems like a bit of hide'n'seek. I did find a couple of the hotties I'd viewed checked my profile out in turn. When they saw how old I was I'm sure they clicked 'back' in disgust, but I figure they know you've got to look at a lot of toad profiles to find your prince.

I have looked at the site from an escorts perspective on a couple of occasions. They charge escorts to list and therefore I didn't take it any further. I am not opposed to paying for adverts but I prefer a suck it and see option for a month to see if you get any genuine enquiries before parting with money. They didn't seem to have this option.

I have been somewhat successful. I met someone for a platonic friendship, but on two occasions he signaled that he wanted more. Nonetheless, I like his company and have told him that I am interested in friends only.

The current site is, in fact, new. I think they rolled it out within the last month.

This is not a new feature. It was implemented in the previous redesign several years ago.
