Help in Searching old threads

I'm hoping you can help please. I'm trying to search old threads for information, for example, wanting to look up Eli the massage guy. I go to advance search, type in Eli in topic, and get a message "contained in too many threads so no results". I tried various combination to make it longer "Eli New York", "Eli York"< "Eli NEw", etc, but run into the problem that everything NEw York comes up. Then I went to forum specific search, using ELi as keyword and limiting to only "Spa" forum, but get gibberish. What am I doing wrong? Please advise. Thanks and have a great day ;-)

I believe the error message says:

 

"The following words are either very common, too long, or too short and were not included in your search"

The problem isn't at your end and you're not doing anything wrong. The search function has its own limits.
