Are these red flags I should look for?

These are two things I tend to be skeptical of whenever I search guys on Backpage. Yeah, I search on Rentboy too but Backpage has guys that are more of my type. But I also like variety so I do look through a handful.

I find these two details to be something I'm always skeptical about:

1. They say on their ad that they are VGL but they don't have a face pic. Just a body pic. According to urban dictionary, VGL is used by people who tend not to be that. Is this a red flag?

2. On some ads, the person's email or phone number is different. Is this a red flag as well?

For me, not a red flag but it pisses me off. Ranks up there with "extra large" cock and no cock shot.

I don't know what you mean. Are you saying two different phone numbers in the same ad or two different ads for the same person and each has a different phone number?

Sometimes it's difficult to know when a red flag should be heeded and when it can be ignored. I'm generally cautious and will avoid guys who raise any red flags, but I went ahead with an appointment recently (and I'm glad I did!) where one of your criteria was causing me concern. This guy had an ad on Adam4Adam with no phone number, and the phone number he gave me in response to my message did not match a phone number listed on another site for him. I didn't discover this until after I had already called him and scheduled an appointment. Because I was a bit worried that the guy I contacted might have simply lifted someone else's photos, I contacted him and asked him to explain the different phone numbers. He said that the one I called was his assistant who helps him get business by being on Adam4Adam, ready to respond to written inquiries.

I probably would have canceled my appointment, even after receiving that explanation, but for two things: There was a single review here by someone who had reviewed a few other guys and there was a single post here in the message center that revealed that someone had met the guy and that he was legitimate.

As to someone claiming to be very good looking yet not showing his face online, I don't look at that as a red flag but it very well might cause me to not be interested in hiring the guy. It's one thing for a masseur to be so-so in the looks department, but if I'm hiring an escort I definitely want someone I find to be good looking. Since some people have a different notion of what that is, someone merely claiming to be very good looking means nothing to me.

I don't consider the lack of a face pic a red flag and you can always request one by email.

I've known escorts who 1) have children in public schools 2) have a scholarship to an ivy league school 3) work on Wall Street during the day 4) is the vice-president for international sales of a major corporation - all valid reasons

for not posting a face pic. You would have been very happy with all of their faces.
