I get "uber-ed" and "uber" myself too and from clients regularly, even in smaller cities. I also use "Lyft" which is sometimes available in places Uber is not. Occasionally, if a client is really concerned about discretion, I will uber myself to a nearby church within a block or so of the client's locale. No driver has yet to question why I'm going to Our Lady of Lost Souls Chapel at 1:00am. :o

And sometimes the drivers are hot dudes, methinks one of them will get lucky with me some night... cue hot '70's porn fantasy

I believe taxi owners have invested up to as much as one million or more (thinking of NYC medallions) dollars, are highly regulated and pay for numerous business licenses. If I'd done that and a group comes along that doesn't have to I'd push back. If the municipalities overnight unregulated taxis and gave them back their investment how well would the Uber drivers do with that additional competition? And if those former medallion owners used the return of their medallion investment to buy market share from the Uber folks, I think we know how uncomfortable that would be for the latter.

And maybe the Uber drivers pay all the taxes they should but without meters I'm doubtful. Too many "Americans" think its their patriotic duty to cheat on their taxes. And those business licensing fees taxis pay produce revenue municipalities would look to make up for elsewhere if those payments went away or its less snow plowing, free garbage pick up, etc.

So, if the government is deregulating and allowing new competition, it should get out of/stay out of the way of both parties.

While I'm hesisitant to say anything about the entirety of my friends and colleagues avoiding taxes, I made the same argument

when hotels in the SF Bay Area got bad-mouthed.

Hotel Taxes in particular are directly funneled into grants for the arts, and I did disclose being a modest benificiary thereof

(to the extent about about 2.5% of my income).

Uber is my fav. app. Quick, Safe, Highly affordable. I take it to LAX when I travel all the time, cheaper and faster than parking the truck. I have also ubered clients to or from my home as an added service. I highly recommend Uber to anyone visiting LA or anywhere else for that matter.

Sorry! I've heard the word used on television and have seen it in print, but, unfortunately, I do not know its meaning! I just did a google query but am still not sure of the meaning as indicated in the question as a verb!

So you googled it?

Any noun can be verbed.

Here's another thought about Uber and Lyft....

The actor Jack Fallahee who plays gay law student Connor Walsh on "How to Get Away With Murder" says that before he landed his current role he was making ends meet by driving for Lyft.

You just never know who might pick you up, so PAY ATTENTION.
