I nearly fainted when I saw a picture of this wonderful creature in today's review of "The Giver".

If the review was by Manohla Dargis, a negative review generally means the film was accessible and entertaining. She was the film critic at the Los Angeles Times for several years, and her departure for New York was a blessing.

Gotta throw in my two cents and agree with body2body. The problem I find with her reviews is that they are almost impossible to read. She seems to think that she's writing for Cahier du Cinema, instead of a general audience in a daily newspaper.

I watched an interview last night with the producers (one is Harvey Weinstein, whose films I generally like a lot) and I use the NY Times simply to wrap up garbage -- they have not had a decent film reviewer that I even moderately agree with in years. I am at a stage in my life where I trust my own instincts and impressions in arts (films, books, plays etc...). I know what authors I like, what genres of film I like, directors (producers) I like etc... Film critics in newspapers are a (thankfully) soon to be forgotten species, and Manohla Darhis is a good reason for their demise.

You can see his voice box, so I don't like him. I have a high voice. You couldn't even see my voice box when I was skinny. It must be small (along with other things-sigh). So I have a new rule that I don't like anyone with visible voice boxes.

PS He's handsome obviously. But doesn't he have that same Josh Hartnett or Channing Tatum ( when he had longer hair) kind of generic handsomeness to him?

You're right, Gman. I was going to say he is very reminiscent of Josh Hartnett. Nothing wrong with generic handsomeness though. ;) On a side note, I've never seen the appeal fo Channing Tatum. To each their own flavor, though.

His visible larynx makes him a MAN! (I always look for the 'voice box' on suspected cross dressers)

Those smooth forearms and substantial eyebrows on Brenton also drive me nuts.

Let's just hope it doesn't hold him back any. http://www.boytoy.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif

That is great!!! Unfortunately it looks like I'm going to have to give up my Matt LeBlanc fantasy too though.

A non-visible larynx is not necessarily a turn off. A visible one just screams MAN!

You may have misunderstood. I'm not saying they aren't manly. I'm just jealous because I've never had one.

Everyone has one. Yours is just not that prominent.

You wanna swap with mine? ;-) [/color]

Steven,

That's very kind of you. However there are definitely other body parts of yours that I'd prefer to swap much more than just a larynx. In fact there might be more than I can count.

I saw The Giver today and enjoyed it. It's a life-affirming movie that is well done and the boy is delightfully handsome. However, he is cast as a boy, and as such, did not give off any hint of sensuality. When he kissed the girl, all I thought of was puppy love. Now in real life he is 25, so I have no doubt that if he were cast in a studly role, he would rise to the occasion, as would I.

That's interesting because in the book the character is much younger- maybe 12 or so. Brenton mentioned in an interview that he thought with him being older it gave more depth to the relationship.

yeah, but that's not what he looks like today

Tatum has the puffy face of a serious drinker now. He's aged into something I don't find sexy at all.

Channing Tatum has stated in interviews that his wife actually likes him a little puffier (or maybe the truth is she just likes him appearing a bit less desirable to so many other people) and that he "lets himself go" somewhat in between roles that require him to be lean. I assume that at some point that means he'll be heavy for the rest of his life, but he won't be the first Hollywood sex symbol to let himself go.
