A friend of mine, rather disabled from HIV-induced myelitis, lives in Seattle, which

has rather a problem with the Native Indian population and homelessness.

 

He always has a half-dollar or a silver dollar available, to give to them.

"There for the grace of God," he says, being an agnostic at heart.

 

Never underestimate the effect of a small gift. Never overestimate it, either, but that's much less likely to happen.
