Depending on the size of the top or bottom and position, it can be a bit tough as you do "sink" in to the mattress. Also needs a good mattress cover for spills and clean up. But they are very comfortable and I love sleeping on one!

I've heard that they are very "hot" to sleep on, and I mean temperature-wise. If that was a concern, I'd certainly check it out before buying. For me, I prefer a cool mattress and some other activity to keep me warm. :)

I love mine.... they conform to your body when sleeping, but I have not found the mattress itself to be hot or cool.... but a lot of other things have kept it hot... I suggest you try it out. a lot of places will give you a 7 or 10 day trial. I do not have a pillow top, but when I have to replace my current one, I will probably get that. I have a king size and a low platform bed which is great for everything! It works well for a regular height frame, although I prefer the lower platform bed. I would not get it if you have a high frame.

My inexpensive alternative that’s worked well for my queen sized bed. In use about 3 years now.

1. Platform bed with wood slat mattress support base

http://www.IKEA - Mandal model 400.00

2. Inexpensive firm spring mattress (no box spring)

http://www.mattressfirm (H&R? 7.5”?) 140.00

3. 4” thick memory foam mattress topper

WalMart 100.00

4. Thick blanket (like a military blanket) 25.00

5. Cotton mattress pad (maybe 1.5” thick)

WalMart 35.00

Approx Total 700.00

The firm spring (not foam) mattress sits on the sturdy platform bed wood slats.

Then the 4” memory foam topper sits on the spring mattress.

Then I have a thick blanket between the spring mattress and

The cotton mattress pad

Sheets, blankets and pillows

The bed is very sturdy and I find it quite comfortable. Works well for massage (during which I add additional mattress protection). The cotton mattress pad and thick blanket below it help allow a little air movement.

My biggest expense was the IKEA Mandel platform bed. I especially like it because of the underbed storage. Plus the design spreads the weight out over a large area.

The top-of-the-line Tempurpedic is quite something. One doesn't "get eaten" by it,

as is the case with other Tempurpedic. However, queen size is like $5000.

I purchased a Natura all latex bed. It's okay, but I developed a chronic pain in my

left shoulder [the side I sleep on].

In days of old, one would have suggested a nice, firm bed by Sterns and Foster, but their

product has gone from wonderful to nasty.

I can't sleep comfortably on Tempu-pedic or other memory foam mattresses. I can't imagine trying to have sex on them.

It's ye trusty old firm innerspring mattress for me, thanks -- and I have muscoloskeletal conditions galore.
