On a positive note, he lowered his rate to $250. Its possible that his business has been negatively affected by all the no-shows etc. Advertising on backpage isn't necessarily a bad sign. At $250, I might even give him a try if I was alone and bored in LV, but it would be with low expectations of him showing up as agreed- so only for an hour appointment.

Just some advice- if you fly to him- try and have advance plans in case he does a no-show. And for the same reason, if you fly him to you- and I'm not sure how you would do this now- but I'd make sure the tickets were refundable to you. I'm not picking on Derek. I've never met him. But there have been too many people on here who have reported him as a no-show. Years ago- I used to fly escorts to me, if possible on Southwest because if the escort no-showed on me, I could cancel the ticket and get a credit in my name. I've heard you can't do that on Southwest anymore- that the credit stays in the name of the ticketed passenger. And as far as I know, you haven't been able to cancel and get either credit or the money back for the buyer and not the person whose name is on the ticket on the legacy airlines in a long time.

Excellent advice; and honestly, I learned the hard way several months ago when I started hiring that alternate plans are a must . . .

 

But in today's environment, meaning the airline security environment, you are absolutely correct that there's no way that I know for the ticket refund to come back to the purchaser if he or she is not the flyer.

 

I'll keep talking with Derek. He might make a LA trip using my time with him as the 'base'.

my dates with Derek (5 of them now) all have been at my hotel in Las Vegas.....simple, easy, uncomplicated......& fun (understatement).....if he had not shown up as promised / expected, it would not have caused any panic but he always has been reliable with me.....

I was in a very similar situation as you (which I posted about on the forum in another topic about Vegas escorts).

 

I will preface this by saying he was easy to contact and responsive/accommodating. I contacted him, asking about flying him to me. We discussed a plan... told him a date, which he was in total agreement with. I booked the flight under his name and sent him the basic necessary information. Before the meeting date, Delta keep altering the flight schedule, so I'd email him to update him. He would respond that it was fine and he would note the schedule change.

 

The week before the trip he contacted me to make sure everything was still set. I said it was and that I'd call him a few days before to make sure if he wanted in snacks etc. for the room. Called him a few days before the trip. He didn't answer. He did text back he couldn't talk at the time. I contacted him the day before the trip and he responded about being eager to meet me and will see me tomorrow. The day of the flight, I head to airport and... no show. I tried contacting him multiple times that day (before his flight, around the layover time, at the airport when the plane arrived)... nothing, no response. So I'm was out travel costs, but i did spend a nice night at good hotel in the area.

 

Like I said in my previous post, he seems to be a good guy, at least personable... but he's clearly a flake. There are a few guys I've brought to me from out of state. Derek was the only one to not show. I call him a flake because to act as if he was coming right up until the day before and just not show or respond at all on the meeting day... well that's just flaky behavior.

 

Whatever... money and time wasted... lesson learned. Stick with the people/agencies I know and enjoy them as much as I can.

I realize some guys have good luck flying escorts in, Oklehomo comes immediately to mind, but I'm not interested. It is also true that being retired I can fly where ever and whenever I want. I'm in the planning stage of flying from L.A. to Boston to get together with an escort who has been on my bucket list for a number of year. Granted he could flake out me once I'm there but I can then check the talent available and hire someone else. I also make certain that there are sights that I want to visit in the destination city ie. The Boston Museum of Art. Last year I was planning a trip to Las Vegas, booked a room and a ticket and then started making plans.

 

Derek was on my bucket list as were Mitch Vaughn and Christopher Daniels. First off, contacting all THREE of them was easier than I expected. Each was excellent in returning messages and although Christopher would have been out of town, Derek and Mitch were available.

As regards my bad experience with Derek Atlas, I must admit that I went to LV in April when I arranged to see him tho I had been in LV the previous September. My main purpose was to reunite with Aaron Marx who was visiting from Germany. Had seen him many times in LV and two years ago he came to my northern home to see me. Since the original poster asked a question and my situation seemed similar to his, I gave my opinion. I'm not the only one on this forum who has a negative/no show experience with Derek.

 

With that said, I also commented that if the original poster (or anyone for that matter) willing to try Derek go right ahead. Its clear that he sees people and makes them happy, but there is also the possibility that setting something up with him, he will not show. It happens, even with the best escorts.
