17% of Australian men gay?

Last night Anderson Cooper reported on tv that a new study shows that 17% of Australian men identify themselves as gay. Can this be? Is it from being down under so much? Anderson himself is so cute, slim, well dressed, intelligent, neat, and articulate that he might well be gay himself. Anyone know?

I'm a gay Australian, and I'm definitely not part of such a large part of the male population of this country. The survey is plainly ridiculous. It's been reported here, too. Our percentages are only just ahead of the USA's in the same survey. Does that tell you something about the reliabililty of these figures?

Indeed, to add further absurdity to the figure, it's not that they identify themselves as gay, but that 17% of Australians are living in same-sex relationships. On the same survey, something like 15% of Americans were doing the same thing. You want to believe that too?

It is just wishful thinking on (Anderson) Cooper's part. He must have a thing for what's down under.

It is true, however, that 17% of the kangaroos are exclusively gay.

The reporting was not limited to Cooper. See also the drudgereport.com. I agree the figures are exagerrated. Undoubtedly due to faulty polling techniques. It makes you wonder how much of the polling on other subjects is bogus as we..

He's actually out and open about his gayness, as has been discussed here previously. (I tried to find a link so you could check it out yourself, but couldn't find it).

According to my newspaper this morning, it was a survey conducted from a website of a condom manufacturer. People who visited the site were invited to take part in the survey. How scientific is that!!!!!

It is VERY scientific! The conclusion? That approximately 17% of all Australian men who visit condom websites and are willing to participate in online surveys about sexuality are gay.
