Doggie veerers that replicate human teeth!! What will they think of next!!! Seriously, I used to know a couple that had show dogs and it was strictly verboten for a show dog's teeth to be altered in any way, shape, or manner. However, that did not prevent an underground doggie orthodontist industry from existing.

At any rate, from what I have heard it costs considerably more to clean a dog's teeth as opposed to those of a human being. There is anesthesia involved, and after a certain age a special test must be administered to assure that the pooch will survive the anesthesia. So I guess such a product is worth a shot!

Dentastix is a very popular treat for dogs which supposedly helps keep their teeth clean. My dog eats them cause he likes the taste. Ad is a little different, but certainly not something to freak out about.

I just tried the doggie cleaning with my local vet, minus the anesthesia. She is climbing in years and I was uncomfortable giving her anything , so opted for cleaning without anesthesia. She was not happy about it to say the least, so we split the days and made it a two parter. In years past, the vet would test her first, and it was a simple process, but time marches on, and we just have to make adjustments.

Well your pooch and I have at least something partially in common... dental work without anesthesia. Actually I hate the "lip in your lap" feeling of a local anesthetic. I prefer to endure the "pain" (allowing my fantasies to run wild helps me get through it) and then leave feeling that I am still in one piece.

I had a deep cleaning a year ago and where they usually do either one or two quadrants at a time, the dentist did my entire mouth. I was so numbed up after the procedure that when they gave me water to gargle with, I had to use a mirror to keep from dribbling down the front of my shirt.

I've always been a dentalphobe, not totally because of the pain but because when I was growing up my dentist was an asshole. I've gotten over the asshole part - now I like them - and I'm seriously working on the pain part, hypnosis has helped to turn that pain into great pleasure!
