Well now that you mentioned it, there are the following varieties.

1. classic, 2. lite, 3. 25% less sodium, 4. oven roasted turkey ( made with 100% white lean turkey), 5. 6. black pepper, 7. jalapeno, 8. teriyaki, 9. hickory smoked, 10. with bacon, 11. with cheese, 12. hot and spicy (using Mcilhenny Tabasco sauce), and 13. spam spread (original flavor).

And if that werent enough, there are now meals with Spam- with penne noodles and alfredo sauce, spam with roasted potatoes and gravy, spam with red beans and rice, spam and sausage jambalaya, spam and cheesy potatoes, spam and scalloped potatoes.

There is a gay connection to this food product. Spam was introduced by the Hormel Foods Corporation in 1937.

Heir to much of the family wealth is James Hormel, an out gay Philanthropist (who contributed to the San Francisco Public Libraries'

gay and Lesbian Center, the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus, and to a smaller extent the SF Lesbian/Gay freedom band).

He was nominated by Clinton to be ambassador to Luxembourg, prompting a congressional fight, which was very much

discussed in the media.

Sorry to have only added context, and no menu!

Confession: As healthy as I like to eat, this has always been a vice. Couple times a year I'll buy a couple of cans of the original and eat them right out of the can. The roasted turkey spam is quite good also!. Also, loaded with lots O' fat. Mmmmm

I grew up on fried Spam for breakfast, my father loved it. I haven’t eaten it in years. What is interesting is that currently the major market for Spam is China where it is considered a great delicacy. In Hong Kong there are entire restaurants devoted to various preparations of Spam. There are even a few coffee shop style restaurants in the San Gabriel Valley of Southern California, which has a huge native Chinese population, that offer Span on their menus.

LOL...as did my father. I always thought it was disgusting, but I love seeing the links to it being a hit and a "classy gift" in South Korea and in Hong Kong. Interesting read.... who knew?

I guess I shouldn't retch at the thought. I've had fried kosher salami before. I'm guessing that can't be much better for you.
