I travel a lot, and have noticed a few escorts that are always at those big events as well. Southern Decadence and Mardi Gras in New Orleans, Pride in NYC and LA, The Sundance film Festival in UT, and a few others. Lately it has seemed a lot less escorts traveling out for big occasions, and just being left with the Locals. I didn't see a single escort available for Sundance this year. I know Utah isn't a hot spot, but for 10 days the bars and clubs in Park City are packed with every famous person you can think of, and everyone is looking for a good time. It was the same with NYC pride. NYC always is a hotbed for escorts anyways, but I was excited to see who would be visiting for the occasion, and didn't really see anyone new.

Is it just a pain for escorts to travel? Or becoming non lucrative? Or have I just been looking on the wrong sights again?

I think it probably depends a lot on the economics. I'm in New Orleans, and this year hotels for Mardi Gras seem to be around $350/night or more. At rates like that, I think most escorts are priced out of the market.

Maybe I should offer my sofa bed to escorts who want to trade. [wink]

In addition to the very high cost of the overhead for the trip, getting around New Orleans during Mardi Gras is virtually impossible. I was there last year and most of the streets were closed not to mention the security of the hotels was ridiculous.

CPAC IS INTRIGUING. I am planning on ALOT of time in the DC area later in the spring when it warms up. Been getting alot of inquiries from there. New Orleans (as in the OP) is my area of expertise so here is my two cents. It looks as if this will be the first mardi gras i have missed in 12 years and i am bummed about it. I had a client lined up to travel in with who had never seen mardi gras but a financial setback for him makes the cost prohibitive for him. The hotel rates are, in my opinion, ridiculous as every hotel in town has availabilty because so many simply wont pay the rate. A nameless hotel gm who is a client told me last year that on sunday, monday and mardi gras night his hotel was only 65% full. Everyone comes in for the party on friday and saturday but the REAL fun (as any local will tell you) is Mardi Gras day itself! That is what i am going to miss this year unless I get a last minute booking. Now as to the ops' actual question: i think traveling WITH the escort is easier than hiring once you reach a destination city or event. That way he is yours exclusively while u r there. I do that alot....... http://www.rentboy.com/magic mikey or http://www.rentmen.com/mikeyusatop

wow --- I would love to go to sundance. I love films, and have always wanted to get there. I would need an anchor client and could then pull it off.

btw I hope HER wins the oscar! oops, off thread...

I believe there will be lots of films being made in Palm Springs next month and you would be perfect for one of the TOP roles. I bet you could get Tyger to be your co-star :-)

As traveling can be expensive I only travel if a client is paying for me to travel to their location. Otherwise I work locally.

I do exactly the same, except with regulars, whom I am happy to travel to and be reimbursed.

I have toured a few times and find it extremely difficult to do cost effectively.

I work from my own home unless i am asked to travel
