This guy is kicked out of gym for wearing speedos. Sexist or not?

I think the whole thing is beginning to sound like some sinister international conspiracy on the part of swimwear designers/manufacturers. Or maybe lifeguards. Or maybe pool-owners. Or maybe news reporters in large-ish cities. No one ever said squat to me at my gym when I've used the pool and my attire has spanned the gamut from modest boxers to shameless speedos

Then too I thought maybe the French position was a ploy to cut down on people using the pool (and thus save on costly filter maintenance and replacements.) Who in their right mind who was overweight or even normal and over the age of 16 would use the pools if they could only swim in the most revealing attire. But then I realized it really is different in France - those folks have no shame. (Note - I'm being silly and snarky again) Please just disregard)

No shame whatsoever

After watching that video and paying close attention to the speedo, both on and off the hot guy, I think it's probably more about the type of material than just the speedo itself. The guy wasn't particularly hugely endowed, so it likely wasn't just about the bulge, since that wouldn't look any different than anyone else wearing speedos. Yeah, swimming trunks are more common in America, but speedos certainly aren't unheard of. But that shiny white material gave me the impression that it would become translucent (is that the right word?) when wet, so when cutie was in the hot tub, he really was showing all of his business. I, of course, wouldn't have had a problem with it, and would have greatly enjoyed the view. But you know how prudish breeders can be. He should join a gay gym. :-P

Are those male or female bodies? At least, they are exercising in a pool, getting 'toned up' ...

GREAT comment and picture, Steven... I love staring and I certainly wouldn't mind seeing speedos at my gym or in my pool on some of the guys, that's for sure !!

I used to belong to a huge gym that had very rigorous dress code for men -- no matter what you wore in terms of shorts you were REQUIRED to have lycra bicycle shorts UNDERNEATH to make sure no one could peek at the family jewels while you did a bench press or some such thing. Similarly - men had to wear t-shirts with short sleeves - no "wife-beater" shirts allowed or anything that shoed the slightest bit of abs.

Women on the other hand had to wear these long leotards which left - as already mentioned - NOTHING to the imagination, except enormous camel toe prints on everything.

I'm guessing that this was a higher end gym like Equinox or Reebok? If I'm right, this is more of a class issue than anything else. They wanted to attract wealthy men to the gym, so they banned attire that might be associated with lower end gyms, because seeing that kind of attire might scare off the wealthy men. As for women, nothing attracts men to a gym like scantily dressed, hot women. Some gyms even give out free memberships to models for this reason. You'll see the same rules at high end (or wannabe high end) clubs.

Of course, I'm assuming the clientele is mostly straight.

Lifetime is one of the larger and higher-end clubs in Michigan in terms of amenities, but not a small exclusive one.

At an apartment I lived at in the early 90's, there was a well-built guy sunning at the pool wearing a very skimpy orange swimsuit, nearly a thong. He fell asleep and was apparently having a very erotic dream, the head of his cock was starting to push out of the waistband. Nobody came & said anything but a LOT of people (myself included) moved their chaise lounge to get a closer look. I had the feeling he was feigning sleep and enjoyed the attention.

"Well then stop staring. No one's making you look at it" :)

Don't just stare at it, EAT it! <as in American Psycho>
