And we care because...????? I for one am getting tired of most of the Hollywood crowd with their addled brains, botoxed attempts to turn back time, and above all the idea that any of them have something to say of any importance to me. The Golden Globes for years were exposed as a self-indulgent parody of the more prestigious Oscars, run by a shadowy group of "foreign journalists" from some backroom office, and just another chance for actors and actresses to become clothes hangers for edgy designers, prancing down a red carpet to be "interviewed" by overly unctuous and effusive Hollywood celebs just like them, prattling on about nonsense that only proves that away from a script, most of them cannot put two or three words together intelligently.

WHEW got that off my chest before my coffee.

But on a serious note, it is sad to see someone like Jacqueline Bisset allow herself to be such a mess in public and worse, no one came to her side to talk her off stage or help her out. That speaks more about the others than about her. As for the awards... I spent the evening doing such things as watching "Downton Abbey" and "Revenge" after getting my usual fill of sports in the afternoon.

I actually couldn't even watch the clip long enough to tell whether she was intoxicated. She still looks good, though, so the plastic surgery that I assume she's had done has been skillfully performed and not excessive.

I guess we can't call this surprising--happens all the time--maybe perplexing is the word. Shouldn't ANYONE with a grade school education be able to string together a few reasonably articulate sentences of thanks and appreciation? Dare to dream. I enjoyed some of the humor early in the show, but grabbed for the remote to escape Jacqueline Bisset's cringe-worthy spectacle. Ultimately, like Adriano, I preferred to watch people speak in actual English sentences on "Downton Abbey."

Glad to see "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" win Best Comedy Series and Andy Samberg from the show win Best Actor in a comedy series. Perhaps the two most surprising awards of the evening. I actually like the Golden Globes, much less boring than the

Academy Awards. And people can watch shows like "The Good Wife," "Girls" and the too popular soap opera "Downton Abbey" anytime.

from the chew 'em up and spit 'em out school

I remember thinking last night when I saw her acceptance speech that folks were going to have a field day with it the next day. I am of the opinion that having been nominated so many times without winning, the award came as a true surprise to her. She probably had a few drinks, but she didn't appear drunk to me. She clearly was RELAXED. I think is was a real person giving her real feelings and I had no problem with it. Glad to see her win. I have always liked her ever since AIRPORT when she slapped Helen Hayes.

I watched the clip and so nothing wrong with it. It was not rehearsed and I think it was a truly stunned and shocked moment for her. Maybe she did have a few drinks but it seems like there were quite a few drinks being poured at that award show.

I thought she looked stunning and I am glad that she won (long overdue).

I am very happy for the honor she received. Her speech did make me uncomfortable, but I took it as a combination of surprise, nervousness, and certainly alcohol. I think that the fact that every time the camera spanned the audience, drinks were being poured throughout the audience upset me more than one person's acceptance.

I agree. I think she was absolutely shocked at winning and, yes, a little drunk. She had been nominated 5 times and probably planned a million different speeches. When it finally happened, she didn't know where to start.

As for getting her off the stage, they tried. They apparently showed the applause sign and then played the "between awards" music. She wouldn't budge. If someone had actually tried to come up and talk her offstage and she refused to go, that would have been even more embarrassing--for her and the audience.

I read in the past that part of what sets the Golden Globes apart from the Oscars is how they structure the evening, namely, that the people on stage take part in something beforehand (a dinner?) that serves them alcohol.

So that's why the GG's are well-known for getting some speeches and presentations that are sometimes markedly more quirky than the Oscars.

I thought the show was paced well, I think Tina and Amy make an excellent pair and do feed off of each others comedy but after about 5 minutes I did something else until the opening monologue was done. The quick jokes during the quick breaks or change in presenters I thought were much funnier and I actually liked the Bono and Amy routine, especially when she won.

I thought Jacqueline speech was actually half shock/half alcohol and that sort of what the Golden Globes is known for and really I did not mind. I think when you are in an industry as long as she has been with little recognition, although really how many memorable performances has she had, there was some bitterness in her speech and a bit of relief.

The Golden Globes has been known for the unexpected, the biggest unexpected for me is trying to figure out how American Hustle was in the Comedy/Musical category and Leonardo's acceptance speech stated his confusion with his nomination in the acting for comedy/musical. Both sure look like dramas to me.

I can understand the confusion concerning drama or comedy but I would personally consider both American Hustle and Wolf of Wall Street black comedy.
