Let me be clear again: i have no personal knowledge of anyone's tax situation and assume that everyone is paying what they're supposed to pay. What else?
ROFL!!!! You weren't very clear the first time when you ASSumed the taxability of any escort's income. Posting "again, I have no personal knowledge..." is just a horrible, horrible CoverYourAss, since you didn't post it the first time. You, sir, cannot be clear again, when you were clearly accusing escorts of not reporting their income for taxation correctly... some would say, liar, liar, pants on fire!

Your first post was less than honorable. Your second post, proves again, you are less than honorable. You'd have been better off just shutting up on the tax status of escort income, not attempting to disavow your own first assumption.

I downloaded the book hoping it would be something like Aaron Lawrence's first book--that is, lots of details about life as an escort. At first glance, it seemed like there was a lot more erotica and less detail about the business than I was hoping for, but I'll let you know when I read it.

If the author is still reading, I'd recommend that you put the ebook on Amazon or at least Google books. True, you'll need to pay Amazon/Google their cut, but given the subject matter, many people will feel more comfortable giving their details to a large etailer. Also, it took some work to figure out how to open the book on my iPad without hooking it up to my computer.

I agree with you and will cut you some slack. Tell me when the book comes out in utube so I can watch. Having spent more dollars on escorts per year than I can remember, and being treated in many different ways, being mugged by escorts, threatened, etc, gee I should write a book, "tales of a John"; gee I might do that.

I first read this thread when it was only two posts long and I wondered ... and still wonder ...

Tom1980, did Christopher Daniels know in advance that you were writing about his book? You make a point of saying you met him two years ago and he probably wouldn't remember your session ... but then Mr. Daniels (not exactly a frequent poster on this site -- hadn't posted for months) responds to your review/endorsement within the hour.

Although you're not writing a review for the NY Times, in fairness to the rest of us in the room, it would still be good form to let us know...

(1.) Whether your post was based solely on personal enthusiasm, or if it was to help someone you know market his product?

(2.) Did Mr. Daniels know in advance that you were posting about his book, or did you let him know immediately after you had?

It was a nice thing to do--it looks like you're helping sales. I'm just curious (as I often am these days) about the blurry line between objective reporting/reviewing and marketing, a line that is incresasingly lost as social media grabs a bigger and bigger share of how we get our information.

Fair questions. I was not looking to help someone I know market his product. Aside from meeting Chris for a single hour 2 years ago and exchanging a couple of emails with him when I inquired about and purchased his book, I had no interaction with Christopher Daniels before starting this thread.

When I meet an escort that truly blows me away, I generally write a review (you can search for examples because I use the same identity for reviews that I use here). For what it's worth, although I enjoyed my time with Chris, the session wasn't remarkable enough to cause me to submit a review.

A little over a month ago, I saw somewhere (I don't even remember where now) that Chris was in the process of publishing the book. I went to his website to get more details, and filled out a form request to receive additional information when the book became available. I think that was the first time I had any contact with Chris since my appointment with him in January 2012.

Chris emailed me (and I assume many others) on December 27th to say the book was available for download. When I returned from my holiday travels and found Chris's email, I responded to it. I thanked him for emailing me, told him that I looked forward to reading the book, and ordered it.

I read the book and enjoyed it. I decided to start a thread about the book here because it seemed like the sort of thread I would want to read if someone else started it. I come here for news and information about escorts and the escorting industry. If anyone is aware of other books written by escorts, please share. I for one am interested in learning about such works and am a likely purchaser of them.

My original post was based solely on my enthusiasm for the book. Because my background is, in some ways, remarkably similar to Chris's, I empathized with the emotional struggles he describes. I found other stories related to his sexual development and personal maturation to be entertaining and, in some cases, thought provoking, even though I could not identify with his actions personally. Chris also displays a snarkiness in his writing that appeals to my personal sense of humor, though others may think it too catty and find it off-putting (for example, I did not think the details about Chris's breakup with Jason Michaels were insulting to Jason, but tone of voice is hard to convey in writing; what I read as an attempt to invoke some light-hearted snark to ease the author through his recollection of difficult memories, others apparently interpret as vindictive cattiness).

If you are looking for erotic fiction, this is not the book for you. Although some erotic details are included, the focus of the stories related to appointments with clients is detailing particular fetishes of some clients, describing thoughts that passed through Chris's mind when he was with other clients, and explaining how Chris handled some unexpected situations. Again, some snark and brutal honesty is included. I read that as the author being completely open about thoughts that cross his mind as he works to provide services to clients to the best of his ability. Others may find this offensive or think that Chris is not appropriately meeting his clients' needs. However, I think it would be unfair to generalize and assume that Chris has negative thoughts about all clients just because he is honest about not wanting to accept future appointments with certain individuals. I think Chris knew that being so honest would offend potential clients, and some of the posts here prove that he has.

Finally, I confess that after I started this thread, I emailed Chris and provided a link to my post in case he wanted to respond to my comments. Even though my original post was largely positive, I did identify some shortcomings in the book. Because Chris has posted on here before and because he emailed me directly (along with however many others he BCCed) when the book became available, I thought it would be courteous to tell him I had finished reading the book, I generally enjoyed it, and I posted some thoughts about it here. Chris responded to my email and thanked me for letting him know about the thread. (In the interest of complete disclosure, I emailed Chris again after he responded to my email regarding this thread. I asked him the same question I asked in my initial post -- what the hell ever happened to Rodney?!?! I also complimented him on a scene he did with Trevor Knight for Men.com (a scene that I watched Monday night right after starting this thread, for those of you interested in my porn viewing habits). Chris responded to my additional email and was very complimentary of Mr. Knight.)

I am not being paid or otherwise compensated to market, advertise, or promote Money's on the Dresser. Although I barely know Chris, I feel like I know him intimately after reading his autobiography. After reading the book, I also think he has a good heart, and I do hope he succeeds in life, whether it is as an escort, an author, or any other endeavor. Still, I'm not going to tell anyone to go buy the book because a guy I hardly know comes across as a good person in his autobiography. A smart sociopath would also seem like a good person in an autobiography. I simply thought the book was entertaining enough to be worth the cost.

Tom

P.S. Christopher -- If you would like to compensate me for starting this thread and providing you some free publicity, please pull whatever strings you can to set me up with Trevor Knight.

OK, so I just finished the book. Yes, it's a quick read. My opinion of the Money's On The Dresser falls somewhere between tom1980 and Amoco. If tom1980's review is a 10 and Amoco's a 1, I'm about a 7. First, about the proofreading, or lack of, it's not that bad, although my standards have probably sunk too low because I read a lot on the Internet, where correct spelling & grammar seem to be anachronisms. What bothered me more were a few sentences here and there that just didn't make sense, as if a different word got switched in accidentally or a key word was omitted. On to the important stuff, CD's trials and tribulations as an escort and porn star. On a positive note, I enjoyed a number of CD's recollections of clients and porn shoots -- the good, the bad, and the ugly. Some were amusing, some poignant, some downright scary -- all in all, quite entertaining. What I didn't like about the book was that CD seems to suffer from a sense of detachment from everyone in his life -- whether personal relationships like boyfriends or "work" relationships like clients and scene partners. Please don't think that I'm making any sort of personal attack. CD discusses his difficulty in making true, deep connections quite frankly in the closing chapter. It seems that his big problem in life is also the big problem in his writing.

That said, I'm glad I bought the book and will snap up Part 2 as soon as it's published. Well, that is if CD doesn't run over his laptop with his car a half-dozen times before he finishes the editing process :-)

Fair questions.

Tom, I appreciate that you found my questions fair and answered them honestly. Thank you.

A thread about Chris Daniels- Gets me Hard.

Postings in said thread about Chris Daniel's book- Stimulates My Mind, then Gets me Hard.

Glowing Reviews in this thread from Clients I've seen ABOUT Chris Daniels's Book- Makes me feel good to know all the cast of characters, then gets me hard.

Talk about taxation, in any thread, in life, etc- Does not get me hard. Immediately causes loss of erection, perhaps even permanently. NOOOOOOOO TAX talk!

I agree that this thread has gone far enough. The video, however, is one of the most OFFENSIVE videos I have ever seen on the Forum or outside the Forum. As a fierce foe of BRUTALITY in any form and, more importantly, an avid supporter of ANIMAL RIGHTS. Another example of posting before thinking when the post would clearly hurt any person who is committed to 2 very important topics in today's society.

INCREDIBLE!!!!!!

Hah! Do you guys remember when Kanye interrupted Taylor Swift when she was winning an award? It was the best thing that EVER happened to her career...my guess is that Mr. Daniels is smiling right now...and again, my comments were merely my personal response to the book, and certainly not a damnation of the man...

Vulgarity and insensitivity overrides resolutions to sensible and sensitive people.

Your tacky use of LMAO on a humane subject is another clear indication of what you are REALLY all about

(Sigh)...I give up. and yes BB, I'm LMAO!!! You do realize that no one is beating a literal horse, it is just an expression. Just to help you clear this all up in your head. I actually missed your insane posts these last couple of weeks. Glad to see your back. ;)

LOL The pot calling the kettle black...

you rarely say anything worth reading, in your postings you say things like: "I'm off to have a coffee/drink", "good one", "I agree", "+1/me", etc.

C'mon 7 postings per day even after you announce your almost retirement from the forum a few months ago.

I do remember Kanye and Taylor....and I do think that you are right, CD is most likely smiling. BTW, I agreed with your position on this from the beginning.
