Working Miami/Ft. Lauderdale

Hey Guys,

 

I'm planning a trip to the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area and was wondering if anyone with experience with this area, either escorts and clients, could answer a few questions, such as:

 

1. Would you recommend staying in Miami or Ft. Lauderdale?

2. Are clients in one city generally willing to travel to the other to see an escort, or might it actually be worth doing two trips, one in each city?

3. Any recommendations for locations that make it easy to get around town? South Beach is an appealing location but I'm not sure it would be ideal if I have to travel for an outcall.

4. Any recommendations for particular hotels you enjoy in the area? I really enjoyed staying at Pineapple Point in FT. Lauderdale, but I suspect some clients would have an issue coming to a gay clothing-optional hotel.

5. Other thoughts/recommendations?

What month are you thinking of going?

We always go to Ft Lauderdale and stay at The Royal Palms.

We only choose local escorts. We do not go to Miami just to meet up

Hey Zach, I live in FTL and speaking strictly for myself, I will not drive to Miami to see an escort, but my attitude among clients is not the norm. Most everyone here drives to Miami without hesitation. Miami definitely has more escorts and I would think a larger client base. Personally my suggestion would be to stay in the city where you think you will get most your business. If for example you decided to stay in FTL, but most your business was in Miami, Under ideal conditions travel time to and from Miami is just shy of 45 min., but conditions are rarely ideal on I-95. So my thought is, if you had a 1 hour appt, you are probably talking 3 hours travel time round trip, depending on when the appt was, and where in Miami the appt was. I love Miami. I was in Miami the other day, and the place is really growing. BTW, Florida is now growing faster population wise than NY.

 

I have always stayed at the Royal Palms in FTL. It is conveniently located 1/2 block off the beach, Incredible staff, immaculate rooms, Fair prices.

Zach -- In response to your 2nd question, I wonder if Miami/FTL is like Dallas/FTW where people are often willing to drive from Ft. Worth to Dallas but not the other way around. Maybe there's a hotel in northern Miami that makes it more convenient for you to get to FTL or for clients in FTL to get to you.

 

By the way, I enjoyed meeting you Friday. I hope you got some good barbecue and enjoy the rest of your time in Dallas!

I am a hiring client who travels to FTL every winter. I normally stay at the W on the beach. Although not a gay resort, it is gay friendly and the pool scene when I have been there has been quite nice. I have also stayed at the Hilton next door which is very nice(great room with a small kitchen). I have hired mostly FTL escorts but last year did hire a Miami based escort for an overnight who drove up to the W. I dont rent a car for the entirety of my trip. I walk, use cabs, water taxi or rent a car for a day or two from the hotel. I like FTL since it is a little more laid back than the SOBE scene. Personally, I wouldn't drive to SOBE for an escort if I was staying in FTL. If there is an escort I really want to see in Miami I would hire for an extended hour or overnight, i.e., if I am in FTL when you are in Miami, I would definitely pay for an extended get together! Keep us apprised of when you are planning on going, I may have to make my trip coincide!

Thank you everyone for your input! I've booked the trip for Thursday, January 30 - Sunday, February 2. I haven't decided on exact accommodations but it will be in Miami, South Beach. If I do decide to make another trip to the area, I'll definitely consider The Royal Palms in Ft. Lauderdale.

I used to work Miami on and off way back in 08. Back then, most of the action was in Miami. And it wasn't really from South Beach either. I'm sure there was probably some, but most of it probably fizzled away by the time I got started. There (was) a lot of activity in the mainland areas. Since then, I've gone back about once every other year. But I was just there for a good few weeks last month. So I got the chance to really assess the market again. All I have to say is, don't get your hopes up TOO high. It's not how it used to be. Keep in mind when you're visiting, there's 100 others also visiting. And it's not the same as people visiting DC or NYC where most of the population is getting paid 6 figure salaries.

 

The thing about South Beach is, everyone there is muscled up, juiced up, everyone keeps themselves in shape. So there really isn't much incentive to pay out there. Plus, you have a lot of people just visiting and stuff. So IMO, South Beach isn't the place to be if you're looking for clients. It's the younger or young at heart crowd. It's for pleasure, not business. You can probably do just fine by the airport hotels, but it's not walking friendly and the construction is a little hectic.

 

As far as there being more escorts in Miami = more clients, well that's questionable. Miami just happens to have more people in generally. Add to the fact the ever increasing # from nearly all Latin American countries...it's a constant explosion of competition. That's why there's more escorts there.

 

Otherwise, it's rare anyone would be willing to travel between Miami and Ft Lauderdale, especially when there's 50 million other escorts within arms length. At one point, most of the business for me did come from Miami. However, on my last visit the majority was from Ft Lauderdale. Even the nightlife action has moved north.

i must agree with Joey. I hate to be negative but prepare yourself for a nice vacation and not much work. The scene there is VERY competitive with an oversupply of talent and an overabundance of CHEAP potential clients who will try to talk your rate way down and then cancel last minute cause they got a boy on grindr or cl who gives it away. Miami would not be a city where i would advise a young escort to travel to on a working tour.
