This probably belongs in "Daddy's Place," but I figured more readers would see it here. :+

We have counters that tell how many posts we have made, and we have counters that tell how many times a thread has been read. Is there any way of telling how often a review has been read? It's not a burning question--I'm just curious.

Well, let's hope not! I personally would LOVE to see all the damn counters go away. Why? Because I am tired of posters attacking other posters with "this is your ????? post, so get a damn life!"

Why do we need counters of any kind? They serve no purpose whatsoever, especially when posters/reviewers can come here under many handles.

Hawkster, your point has some value, however the people who make genuinely serious comments about the number of a particular posters comments are the type of people who will make negative comments generally or simply live to create chaos and provoke. There are important reasons that counters exist on sites: Hoo Boy most likely generates some advertising revenue, which keeps this site free for all of us, from people who who the Newest Reviews or other features on this site. The escorts themselves who likely benefit as new reviews also create interest in them and their services. Actual "hits" of elements of this site would be different that the post count on the Message Center and would be totally annonymous and have no relationship to the identities of any poster or reviewer.

One man's ceiling is another man's.......

My take on the counter system is that it's no big deal until some flamer has to resort to using it as a terrorist device. In that, I agree with VaHawk. At the same time, I wouldn't mind seeing another count added to MC poster's handle that lists the number of confirmed reviews they have filed. To me it may add a little to someone's street cred when they post on the MC. Conversely, when some of our more famous biters start tearing up the room and anyone can see they have NO posted reviews, it might make them less credible (as surely some of their posts already do).

Just my nickel's worth.

I think they should count by the word, not the number of posts. Then clearly Franco would be Queen!:)

Why stop at word count? We could also keep tabs on "bitchiness" "pointlessness" "randomness" "stupidity" and the like, in which case you, Lucky, would be head and shoulders above the rest of the pack. . . . Or would that be "hands and knees?"
