I am certain my father's mother would thank you.

 

However, I think most of the French would prefer to also be acknowledged for the solidarity and empathy shown to this Republic since the revolt agains the British Monarchy and throughout the history of the United States. As with any friendship, there are always differences of opinions both polite and impolite; this should not change the tenor nor the impulse which created the bond in the first place.
