I am planning my first trip to Los Angeles, and would like some help on were I should host. There are a couple factors i know will limit me, I wont be driving. From what I know its a huge location.. Mainly i wont have a car because im 23 and there rates are super high. Can anyone give me some advice?

you may get requests for outcalls, so no car might be a problem....mention it in your ad....though it's popular, the subway system has limited coverage....yes, the entire LA area is enormous

I think a convenient (for clients) place to host will be in the West LA area....this includes the Wilshire Corridor (just east of 405), Beverly Hills, Century City areas....expensive hotels, but you may know the websites that give some kind of deal....you'll notice much cheaper chain hotels at LAX, but that location may be inconvenient for many potential clients

You might consider staying in the West Hollywood area. It's moderately central in the basin, and clients might find this a reasonable or attractive place for them to visit if they have to drive to you.

I agree with AZD that being without a car will limit you a lot. Since taxis will probably be expensive, too, maybe one of those rideshare apps for folks with cellphones will help, assuming there are ones set up in LA.

The LA metro system is decent and has gotten a lot better within the last 5-10 years. Here is a link to their fancy app for smartphones: http://www.metro.net/mobile/metro-mobile-app/ It provides info on both the railways and buses...

Its super handy, reliable and provides up-to-the-minute updates on bus arrivals and departures.

There are a ton of zip-car stations everywhere.

Have fun and enjoy the weather! We're having an unseasonably mild August :)

I have spent my entire life in the Los Angeles area (I’m 72). Native Southern Californians are married to their cars. Visiting friends always ask me how far some destination is and I answer by telling them how long it will take to get there. This often frustrates the hell out of them as they want an answer in miles. Thus I agree with those who have stated that you will be somewhat limited in your appeal to potential clients without wheels.

Now to cut to the quick, if you will definitely not have a car I would suggest you stay in either West Hollywood or along Century Blvd adjacent to LAX. West Hollywood will definitely provide more activities for you when not escorting but the hotels along Century Blvd will be more reasonably priced. If you decide on the LAX area try http://www.hotwire.com for a good price. All of the major chains (Hilton, Sheraton, Hyatt, etc.) have hotels along Century. West Hollywood is probably your best bet even though the number of hotels is limited and they tend to be expensive. The two most convenient hotels in West Hollywood are: 1.) The Chamberlain West Hollywood, http://www.chamberlainwesthollywood.com A nice boutique hotel about $250 a night including a food allowance located one block north of Santa Monica Blvd and 2.)The Ramada Plaza West Hollywood Hotel and Suites, located right on Santa Monica Blvd, many visiting escorts stay here.

Do NOT under any circumstances stay in downtown L.A. as the entire area empties out completely in the evening.

Cutie, Griffin, this has been asked previously by some escorts. Suggestions should be in the archives via a search. Type in Los Angeles hotels or Hotels for escorts or some sorts, and see what comes up. I'd suggest that you stay somewhere in West Hollywood and have your clients come to you since that area is very gay oriented. Book via http://www.booking.com as well; you might get better rates. Or do what you normally do in your bookings with reference to WEHO.

I will vouch for what Epigonos said, with an additional suggestion. For the amount of money you could save by staying at an LAX-area hotel instead of a West Hollywood area hotel, you could easily recoup the cost of a rental car. In addition, as a client, parking in the LAX area is more convenient than near the hotels of west West Hollywood, which can be especially tough at night. You can easily find a nice place via Priceline for well under $100 a night. For example, these recent entries found in biddingfortravel.com: 4*Hilton Los Angeles Airport 7/8 72$, 4* Hilton LAX 6/16 $70. I'm sure you can find a rental car for well under $100 a day.

Perhaps I'd drive the extra miles down to LAX if I was a satisfied, returning client. For a new escort, I might not be willing to. And GD says this is his first trip.

It also might depend on where his clients will be coming from (if he has them lined up already). The valley? South Bay? Westside?

Then they should have no trouble driving to his hotel, right?

I completely disagree. Michael Vincenzo typically does not rent a car and stays near Westwood at one of the Kimpton hotels on Wilshire. I believe he does quite well, but he would have to say for sure. Besides, LA has taxicabs.

Nope, see azdr's later post (quoted below) and mine.

keep in mind Griffin is 23 and most car rental agencies balk at renting to people under 25, as Griffin evidently already knows.....

You (and Griffin) and correct. The ultra-cheap rental cars are typically not available to people under 25. They ask that you state your age when booking the reservation. A quick search on avis.com displayed a 3-day intermediate car for someone 23 years of age at $273 before tax. The compact was actually more expensive. Taxes will add another $50 - $75, so the rental could be over $100 per day.

I think he is smart for eschewing the car. Angelenos are wedded to their cars, so they should have no problem driving to Griffin's hotel.

Alternative to hotels is to rent a cottage or apartment - you get total privacy, not on costs for breakfasts, coffees etc., cute cottage in Norma Triangle around $149 night - try homeaway.com for plenty of listings.

Rentals by owners are often illegal and in some places like NYC have been notorious scams. I have had decent luck in smaller markets but still have had a few issues. Is LA pretty well known for good by-owner rentals?
