excellent point the op makes. Case in point: I have a new competitor in my home market here in SW fla. His rate is $350 for the first hour and like 200 or 250 for each additional hour. You would think

that for those rates he would at least SHOW UP but my clients who have attempted to see him tell me he does not keep the appointments he sets up so not only do they overcharge they either no show or they underperform. My rates have been very consistent over the years ranging from 150 - 200. I try to give a little lagniappe as they say in nola meaning I give them 90 minutes even though they pay for 60. It is all about regulars and customer service but most of these young guys dont get it....sadly! a few do however. http://www.rentboy.com/magicmikey

Interestingly, this market is probably one of the more pure "capitalist" markets out there meaning prices are set according to demand and not distorted by outside forces. You don't have taxation creating distortion and you don't have regulation creating price distortion, so prices really are based on demand. Of course, given the nature of the business, consumers have somewhat incomplete information on the product they are purchasing, so that could distort prices some...but sites like this help with problem to an extent.

Bottomline, I never complain about prices. If a guy is good enough to get $400/hour, I say more power to him. Granted, if he's smart, he may find that he maximizes his profit at a lower price point. But depending on said escorts financial needs, profit maximization may not be the only driver.

You should see what women charge: $600 or more the first hour and retainer of half if the Client bails.

$1200 on up for two hours~

It just goes up from there~

...and it's not like they need to sport a hard on or bust a nut~

On my last trip to Las Vegas, a friend of mine hired a woman. The total charge was $100. This wasn't a "poor quality" hire either.

Really? The last influence I see on escort prices is market forces. In my experience pricing seems to vary from the amount the escort saw listed on someone else's ad to the exact amount of his phone bill or rent due. In almost every case a no thank you is met by a would you pay X instead? I would also credit this website in particular for the prices you see listed in many ads. So many people are convinced that every escort out there is getting that $300 per hour they list and that they are constantly busy. I can't tell you how often I see a comment on this forum saying that "his rates are too low so he may not be real" when his rates may be what the market would set (and he still may not be real -- but that is a different topic).

There are 2 tops in Los Angeles who charge $150 and $160, and both are excellent, so I kind of stick with them when I get the itch. A few months ago, I decided to spend $300 on a guy who had great reviews, and who looked exactly like his photos - very hot. Problem was he couldn't get hard (you should have HEARD the excuses), and he also told me upfront not to expect him to cum because he saved that for his partner. When he finally got an erection for about 20 seconds, it was quite impressive, but then penetration wasn't possible because it went down as soon as he neared the target. I'm not old, I'm not obese, I'm not ugly, I'm not unfriendly and I'm not unfuckable but I started to think there must be something wrong with me because his dick just kept going up and down, up and down and never at the right time. Finally, I called a halt to the proceedings and told him I'd give him $200 for the time we'd spent. He accepted and left. I've seen in recent advertisements that he now charges $250; I'm hoping the $50 he isn't charging clients is to fill his Viagra prescription. I'm going to stay with the guys I know for sure can do the job from now on. As a previous poster stated, the higher price is not a guarantee of higher quality.

I understand that these guys are in the business to make money and I'm willing to part with the money but there has to be bang for the buck. If you have a big dick but it doesn't work, don't try to shake me down for $300 just to look at it. That's only fair.

So, do you care to name the two hot tops who are so reasonably priced?

I would argue that escorts have a more difficult job than doctors and lawyers. If you think escorting is so easy, try being one and see if you can bear sleeping with most clients.

A contentious argument related to the above point was made with a "working boy" on this site. From this end, it was argued that a great many rent boys might really have to "zone out" while being with their clients because a natural attraction was very difficult. When you were very young, after all, did you ever find yourself attracted to what might be a typical client? By "typical client" no offense intended, other than it is difficult to find sexual liaisons at no cost. From the other end, it was argued with vigor that many young guys are indeed attracted to older men, that age is just a number, blah blah blah. At that point it seemed useless to argue with the vague notion that "everyone is different." Does anyone else wish to chime in?

You say po-tay-toe and I say po-tat-oh, you say toe-may-toe and I say to-mat-oh!

But in my 50's I have found some 20's and 30's who appear totally turned on and generous in their love-making(?). And I've enjoyed repeated trips to that ecstasy.

But then again, I've found some total money-grabbing, monkey-do's, too. They weren't worth my initial investment.

Forget who works harder. It doesn't matter what you do, you should work hard or find a different occupation. If your occupation is EASY, you couldn't possibly be doing it at the best of your ability.

And that's when you realize you should have said: "Let's call the whole thing off!"
