hey guys, just curious. . . what are the risks associated with receiving oral? I just found out that a regular suck buddy has engaged in unsafe activity. Asssuming the worse. . . .no I have no sores on my pee-pee but this guy is very talented! Sorry if this is a subject that has been rehashed before, butt just curious about the most current opinions.

My first question to you would be, Why are you relying solely on the response of anonymous posters on an internet site, when it comes to protecting your health? There is tons of literature, both written and on the internet that could probably give you accurate information. If you could take the time to post this, then you should do yourself a favor and go search the net.

My second question to anyone in general, is Why are you so afraid of life? Are you going to cease and desist if you don't get a 100 percent assurance that you are safe by engaging in such activity? I doubt it, so go live life, as every activity involves some risk. My own thoughts on the question would be that you have an infintesimal risk associated with getting your cock sucked, as I don't believe there has ever been a case of HIV contracted thru saliva. Of course if the villain from Moonraker with the steel razor teeth is gouging bleeding ruts in your cock while bleeding from the gums the risk will go up somewhat. :)

Check out the following Web Sites, especially the FAQs:

http://www.gayhealth.com

http://www.gay.com

I have found both of the above sites to have a lot of useful information provided by reputable contributors, such as Dr. Stephen Goldstone. Both sites address just about every sexual concern and then some. Hope that helps.

The chances of getting AIDS from oral sex is vanishingly small. The chances of getting gonorrhea or syphilis are somewhat greater, but both are easily treated. (I've gotten gonorrhea from oral sex back during my Jurassic youth, so I speak from personal experience.) I wouldn't forego having oral sex for fear of getting VD, though! I say, go for it!

To keep your risks of contracting an STD lower, always shower in hot, soapy water after intimate contact. Also take a piss right after you've been blown; this helps get rid of bacteria you may have just come into contact with.

RE: oral risks? - THANKS!!!

thanks CT, Tristan, Tri and Devon for your useful replies. I have followed your links and find your advice well considered. I really freaked when this guy told me he would even consider unsafe. From what I could find on this site, most postings seem to deal with those who perform, not receive. I am sorry that I wrinkled a few panties. Geez. . . somtimes this place ain't so fun! To that end, may I wish a few of you a lifetime of wedgies; and to the others, my continued respect and support.

Gee, I really don't see where anyone's reply to you indicated that the responder had his panties wrinkled. Everyone gave an honest opinion and to use the term "wrinkled panties", imo, is an insult as it applies feminine attributes to gay men, as if they are all screaming queens. Are you even a gay man? I doubt it, as your words imply otherwise.

What does unsafe mean in this scenario? Your post says he is a suck buddy, and you are the receiver, so what are you referring to? Are you saying that you wear a condom when your buddy is sucking your cock and now he wants to suck you without one? If that freaks you out, then find a new "suck buddy" or just use your hand. Only your hand can give you the ironclad guarantee that you seem to seek.

Of course the sites deals mostly with those who perform rather than those who receive, as the risks are probably at least 100 times greater for the giver than the receiver.

If your little peepee is really hurtin' as you sign off as, then go to a clinic or doctor and get tested, as a hurtin' "peepee" means there is probably a fire burning in the "teepee" (in other words, sounds like gonorrhea to me). And if you are infected, then stop until you are free of the disease, and inform those you have been with as to the results.

Oops, I guess I get a wedgie. :)

Does gargling with a strong antibacterial mouthwash after giving head (and French kissing for that matter) do anything to reduce the risk of contacting an STD? One escort I frequent always does this after we have been intimate, and while I've never asked about it, I assume it was a precaution on his part. In any case, I guess it can't hurt.

He probably just does it as a precaution. I don't know how much it actually helps but a cleaner mouth is never a bad idea. Also, I think I've read that the action of gargling tends to stimulate white blood cell activity in the throat, which might make you a little more resistant to infection (medical people reading this, is that true?)

Virtually all mouthwashes on the market are anti-bacterial. I've seen recommendations that one should rinse/gargle with Listerine or a dilute solution of hydrogen peroxide after oral sex to reduce the risk of VD or other contagious diseases. That's certainly easy enough to do, unless you're doing interesting things in a toilet or porn theater booth! Even then, you could carry a little bottle of mouthwash or peroxide in a pocket or fannypack for quick hygiene!
