Seriously though~ i've heard it can do permanent damage. Who needs a floppy dick that can't really get hard? Not fun. Penis enlargement seems to be an urban legend, as the only real 'enlargement' offered is a surgical procedure that is also very risky.

Benjamin is correct that it can cause damage. While going to school I worked in a local ER. We had one patient come in with a severely swollen penis that was black and blue. He finally admitted to using a pump.

 

The pump works by forcing large quantities of blood into the member. While it does enlarge the penis, it only is temporary and will not last over time. In addition, I believe when used routinely, it weakens the blood vessels and also desensitizes the organ making orgasam much more difficult.

 

Tell your friend to enjoy what he's got. There's no need to believe that bigger is better. I've been with one guy who sported a hard-on that over 13". Believe me, there wasn't a whole lot I could do with it other than putting it over my shoulder and burping it. It wasn't about to go up my ass and I didn't want stretch marks on my face. :7

I agree with Matt that casual use probably doesn't do permanent injury. But, if used daily as a means to permanently increase size, I still feel long-term problems can arise.

 

I also agree with Dan that cock rings can provide some wonderful results for both the "wearer" and the "receiver". I personally believe that cock rings are safer than pumps because the blood is more slowly introduced into the member. The pump forces increased blood flow in a rather short period of time. In addition, I think a cock ring still allows for some degree of blood flow/exchange while the pump retains the blood without the necessary exchange and flow.
