Somehow it always seems that TV shows do save (for the most part ) the best for last. Some quick thoughts on some of this years finales I've watched.

Buffy TVS : See Buffy thread

24 - Excellent, however I saw it coming as soon as he gave his speech. Was certainly a surprise at how it was done. This show is addictive.

Will & Grace - while the show is losing its laugh factor. I did bust up at the final scene.

CSI - Perhaps the best written show on TV. The episode with the kid getting killed in a shed with 109 bullet holes in it was great. I was trying to figure out how it could happen.

CSI - Miami - Sorry but lightning isn't striking twice for me. I think the show is a poor rip off. The writing isn't as good. The acting isn't as good.

ER - Not really sure what the hell they are doing. It looks like they are setting up for Luka to get killed next season. The show is sliding down fast.

The Practice - Who cares... the show absolutely stinks now. With the announced firing of some of the interesting characters it should drop like the Titanic next season.

Charmed - If they truly got rid of Leo, I'm gone as well. Oh the kid - he's Page's brat from the future. Pissed that he wasn't the charmed one.

Yes I do sit home and watch TV, it's a condition called Laid off and watching the budget.

Thanks to the miracle of TiVo, I can zoom through an episode of ER in about 15 minutes and not miss a thing. None of the new characters are interesting or deep at all. The writers seem scared to let any of the more complex characters actually do anything. Dr. Romano has been reduced to an annoying shadow of a formerly complex and subtle character.

Buy a TiVo, turn on subtitles on your TV set, and you can blaze through an entire ER episode in about 15 minutes. Maybe less. Sad. Used to never miss this program. But, the decline of ER reflects all the reasons I almost never watch TV any more.

Were it not for the invention of TiVo, I'd have given up entirely already.

Cancellations - sort of related

I am not a happy camper that they cancelled The Agency. I only found it half way through the season, but since then it has been one of my most favorites. The CIA turns updated Mission Impossible.

I was really dissappointed in the whole season of FRIENDS, especially the finale. They should end it now, cause I'm sure next season will be no better. I can just see the writers struggling for ideas. Putting Joey and Rachel together is a TERRIBLE idea - she needs to be with Ross. Aiesha Tyler has no personality whatsoever and, like all of Ross's girlfriends, feels like an 'insertion' into the mix. And, Ross's girlfriends always seem to serve the double duty of disproving the allegations that the show is too lilly white. He's had an Asian girlfriend, now a black. How sweet. Then there's Phoebe, who gives up the guy who was 'the love of her life' - and a running joke on the show over several years (Hank Azzaria) - for another bland 'insertion', Paul Rudd. And another thing - Paul Rudd and Matt LaBlanc have both hit the wall! End rant.

I've never enjoyed Friends, but I'm a Paul Rudd fan.

Find him charasmatic and sexy. He is a magnet for me -

anything he is in I will watch

Oh I agree - I am a fan too, but he is totally wasted on FRIENDS. His character is completely unformed; they don't know what to do with him. (Granted it can't be easy to write a boyfriend for weird Phoebe.) And, I hate to say it, but based on his appearances on the show it seems like he's losing his looks. Nothing a haircut and a few trips to the gym couldn't remedy.
