I purloined the title of my other thread from an article in yesterday's "Sunday Styles" section of the New York Times about a 70-year-old retired school teacher from Berkeley named Jane Juska. She is soon to publish a book about her experiences following an ad she placed in the New York Review of Books. It read: "Before I turn 67 – next March – I would like to have a lot of sex with a man I like. If you want to talk first, Trollope works for me."

Apparently, she's spent most of the past three years following through on the responses. Her beaux have ranged in age from 84 to 32, and none of them has been a troll (at least to her, and she's the only one who counts). Apparently she has not even tipped, let alone paid, her occasional escorts. They seemed to like it as much as she did. By the way, she didn't go into this for the sake of finding True Love, and she is still happily single.

Do you think there could be a version of Jane Juska's strategy that would work for a gay man? What would it be like? Where would you post such an ad? Would you answer such an ad?

There are ads now where guys solicit sex from all comers. One I saw gave his hotel room number and the message that he would be in the room laying on his belly. I don't know how many takers there were.

Perhaps just a direct statement that you want to have sex with as many people as possible would go over well. Try craigslist.org.

I read that article, too - in a section of NYT I rarely even look at. It was fascinating and imo quite uplifting! I had similar thoughts/ideas in my head. Power to ya, Jane!

Also try cruisingforsex.com or squirt.org

Both have local message boards where you can post what you're looking for.

I think the trick was in placing the as in the NYTimes Review of Books. I has the general effect of limiting the audience to guys who are educated and probably clean etc. I think the idea of the ad would work for gays as well but I think trolls would be the rule rather than the exception. Unless you can find a publication where the audience is limited to clean attractive young guys.

But that's just the point: she didn't advertise where "clean attractive young guys" normally go when they're looking for hook-ups. After all, the New York Review of Books is one of the nation's premier venues for serious discussion of serious issues, and the only people who read it are egg-heads first and sex fiends second. I doubt that many guys of the kind you seem to be talking about read the NYReview at all, let alone the personals ads. And as for the "young guys" part, remember that the men she has liked and had a lot of sex with range in age from their 30s to their 80s. Jane Juska rocks!
