I've finally reached the point where I just have to ask the question. I've signed up for updates to threads that I have posted comments, which is great. However, it seems rather spotty in application. On some threads (like Friday Funnies, Dogs & Cat Clicks, and the Alex10 NYC thread currently underway, etc.), I get every single post that someone makes. On others (and probably a majority), I only get the post that immediately follows mine. Others that come after that are not emailed, unless I actually go to the site to look at the comment (at which point the next post will come).

Is there some difference in why some threads generate every response and why some threads only get the immediately following posts.

I wonder if others have also noticed the same thing (I'm betting so). And I'm also betting that this thread will be in the former category. :)

Thanks for any info.

I didn't realize that you could have updates to threads emailed. I don't know how many times I've headed to my Friday night poker game needing a joke. I now have a resource without running home to log into my computer between the office and the game! Thanks for the insight into this feature.

Sorry - don't have any answer to why.

If I was guessing (and I am), I'd guess it has something to do with number of posts over time. A slow-moving thread likely gets immediate email notification on an update because it has been a while since the last one. I don't use the feature so I don't know for sure, but some of the other board features use tonnage-over-time as a control.
