I am sorry I wasn't more clear in my review. David Hull as an actor did a great job of playing "a hard body actor wannabe with as much talent as a stone." His timing and performing skill was on a level with everyone else in the cast. It was his role to play a lump and he did it very well. Sorry I wasn't more specific in my praise for him as an actor. Oh then, my bad for misunderstanding! Thanks for the clarification, Jackhammer. I have to admit, the character of Spike in the play has some lines that had me embarrassed in the theater because I laughed so hard with what could only be called belly laughs! Lucky for me, the rest of the audience was laughing almost as loud.

I sure wouldn't want anyone to go unappreciated. I loved this show and am grateful to everyone who recommended it. I am not sure I would have gone otherwise and I had such a good time, so thank you for your recommendation as well. I only mentioned Lucky by name because we know each other and he had suggested I would like the show. Also, I miss his presence here so wanted to give him a shout out.

For those not familiar with the Mark Taper Forum theater, it is a 3/4 thrust stage and so the feeling is much more intimate. The set design lent itself to this theater as the set was moved forward almost into the audience. I believe the Broadway production was in a proscenium theater but could be wrong. I am judging by the photos of the set.

As to the question of where the show goes from here, I believe this production was a stand alone with no plans for a further tour. There is talk of mounting a London production with the original cast, direction and production designs sometime next season according to David Hyde Pierce. I have noticed that a number of regional theaters are mounting productions, but nothing using original cast, designers or direction. You might check your local sources for production dates near you.

I may not have the influence of. say, Lucky, but I, too, encouraged folks to see this show. I loved it, and am glad so many others are enjoying it too.

You are correct Jackhammer, the original Broadway production was on a proscenium stage (The Golden Theatre on 45th St.) From my seat on the 2nd row, orchestra, the production felt pretty intimate, though.
