I think the title of the thread makes it sound creepier than it is -'search', to me, suggested some sort of probe.

 

In reality, it's a scanner (metal detector) and has been around for a few years: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/11/04/AR2009110404680.html

 

Doesn't strike me as creepier than the newer airport scanners.

For me, it's "if you really want a look you deserve what you see".

 

I wondered briefly why they opted for the chair instead of the full-body scanners in use at airports, but I suppose scanning just certain parts of the body is preceived as less invasive than the full body scans that got puritanical Americans so upset.

There is such a product, btw. It's called the Sit n' Fuck and I've had my eye on it for a while. (It's $600 so I will probably continue to just eye it!)
