Hey Franco, thanks for the link to an interesting article. Okay, I'll admit that it was the picture that spiked my curiosity (and a certain part of my anatomy). Damn, I don't think a hotter picture could be found, do you?

But the article. Interesting. I have always been moved by situations typically associated with "masculinity" such as the Olympics, team sports, construction work crews, police squads, military platoons and even some predominately male dance troups (Tap Dogs, for example). What connects with me is the group identity aspect of these guys. You know that they have worked together, learned to rely on each others skills and strength, have developed trust and confidence in each other.

Given war and warriors, they literally have each others lives in each others hands. The external perception is that they are in charge of their emotions, have custody of their feelings to the point of being nothing short of cold as stone.

There is nothing more powerful to me than seeing a soldier holding a wounded comrade, one carrying another away from danger, a silent tear streaking a dusty cheek over the loss of a buddy.

I remember seeing film of a troop of Israeli soldiers at the funeral of a fellow soldier. All of them were sobbing loudly, embracing each other, holding each other, nearly inconsolable in their grief. And each one of them powerfully built, masculine by any standard, and fierce warriors all.

Don't know where this is going or has gone. Just some thoughts stirred by the article and the picture. Enjoyed them both and appreciate your direction to the article.

And ain't that dude in the picture someone you'd love to wrap your legs around?

Channel surfing last night on TV and The Fox News Channel was interviewing several Soldiers getting haircuts or standing waiting in line. Several were shirtless, all hotties, well toned and muscled, several had Tattoos. I have no idea what they were talking about but the Scenery has never been better in Iraqi! :p
