Ya know, for 10 years or more the rule on internet chat boards has been if you wanna leave just do so. Announcing your departure is basically drama queen behavior equivalent to what you're probably objecting to and a desperate plea for attention.

 

Good riddance? Not likely. We all know it won't be permanent. You'll be back under a different name soon enough. And we'll all know who you are.

True. However, in some respects there is something to be said for wanting to let some individuals know why the person is no longer posting. I have not lived in San Francisco since 1997. There are a number of people who were only passing acquaintences and I never said "goodbye" or kept in touch with them enough to let them know any particulars of my life in great detail. I get to San Francisco often enough that some of them just assume I still live there, just do not go out.

 

Recently, someone said, "Oh, how are you doing?" I said I was fine. Long and short of it, this person has assumed since he had not seen me out that I either had been sick and passed on or something of that sort. I said, no, my health is the same as always. I do not live here anymore....

When you are around, especially somewhat, and then all of sudden are no longer around, people assume many things about why. To announce your departure can certainly, depending on how you do the annoucing, be a drama queen gesture, however it can also have other motivations.

I LOVE the Hecklers on THE MUPPETS...they are so fucking funny. That is part of the reason I like the Muppet show (I guess the same reason that I love this board.) Comic relief goes a long way to some of the more serious posts.

 

I think DONNIE has to be the biggest BITCH of them all...but I still laugh at all his posts...cuz they are so meaningless and shameful.
