Notice I didn't say "WHO" to do in Las Vegas!!!

I'm going to be in Vegas in February and just realized that I'm going to have an extra day to site-see or whatever. I'm already planning on seeing the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam.

What other things are on the "Must See" list? And that could range from shows to landmarks to whatever...

caveat... I'm not a big drinker and I don't really gamble.

Email 'Ace'......he is all knowing, all seeing, and all things, when it comes to "Vegas baby".....he probably could give you the inside scoop on a lot of things that might otherwise get you in trouble.

O is great and worth the pricey tickets. I was in LV twice this summer and saw a total of four shows:

* "O" definitely a must see

* Phantom of the Opera (now closed)

* David Copperfield illusionist show. Lots of fun and tickets are not too dear.

* Zumanity....also a Cirque show. Racier and some nudity but not full frontal. Great bods to look at

both male and female.

I am also not a gambler. I like Las Vegas for the shows and the food. You are going to see Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon......both great choices. Have fun!!

Although pricey the reviews of the Shania show are good, and there is also Faith & Tim.

shania is only for the hard core fan. I was there opening night. good show for those who wanted her comeback, but for a decent seat at $250, it's not a vegas enough show. celine dion easily mops the floor with shania's performance.

Did her meet and greet. she was very nice. I suggest skipping the tour desks and checking out cirques new show at mandalay bay called 'immortal.'

A Cirque du Soleil show! I liked both Mystere (A+) and Ka (A+) better than O. Haven't seen the new Zarkana but suspect it would be excellent also. In the same category is La Reve which is similar to O but by a different company.

Same day discount tickets for many shows can be found at Tix4Tonight outlets.

Casino Club member (usually free to sign up), AARP, and military discounts are also available for some shows at their box-office. This has the advantage in that they can be purchased days in advance and may be refundable prior to show time.

If you're driving it's an all day trip to Grand Canyon (South Rim) and back. So you might want to do that as an airplane tour.

Headliners in February include:

George Strait, 2 Feb

Jay Leno, 8 Feb

Celine Dion, 19 Feb > 16 Mar

Check out Pink Jeep Tours for a full list of their tour options outside of Vegas. Grand Canyon is great but North, South or West rim? Bryce Canyon? Zion National Park? Many, many options to chose from. Good company, smaller specially built Jeep vechicles and only 12 people per tour. They also have special access to locations that other companies do not have.

Tours to the Grand Canyon now go to the West Rim, which is only 2.5 hrs vs. 5 to the South Rim. With a total of 5 hrs on the road vs. 10, it's a much easier daytrip. It's pricier because it's private property (that part of the Grand Canyon is owned by the Hualapai Tribe), but more than worth it if you're just doing a daytrip.

For me, the five must-see freebies for the first-time Vegas visitor are:

1) The Bellagio Fountains

2) The Bellagio Conservatory (the indoor garden)

3) The chocolate fountain at the Bellagio (4,000 pounds of melted chocolate - no, you can't dip your finger in it)

4) The Mirage Volcano ("erupts" on the hour, from 6 pm to midnight)

5) The Venetian, inside (Grand Canal, St. Mark's Square, opera and Venetian carnival performances) and out (Rialto Bridge, the Doge's Palace)

Of course, there's so much more to see & do: Fremont Street Experience, the aquariums and the largest gold nugget ever found at the Golden Nugget, the Chandelier Bar at Cosmopolitan, the crystal dragon & peacocks at the Wynn/Encore, the Forum Shops at Caesars, Crystals at CityCenter ... the list never ends. My favorite off-the-Strip adventure is the Valley of Fire, beautiful red rock formations that you have to see for yourself. My description can't possibly do the place justice.

Also, my favorite restaurant if I'm spending my own money is Sage at Aria. My favorite restaurant if someone else is paying is L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon (it is simply hors de ce monde).

Unfortunately the "Liberace Museum" in Vegas has closed - It was a hoot!

Very Campy with dozens of his costumes on display, classic videos, his collection of magnificent Pianos dating from as far back as

the 1800's, a small theatre with Performance Style Impersonators (i.e, playing/singing in his style - not Drag) Classicc videos and his

history.

Liberace's father was a failed musician from europe - He and his brother George were scholarship students at conservatory

I believe in Cleveland.

The Museum and the shopping center that Liberace built around it - were a non-profit that had raised millions in scholarship

dollars to help music and arts students get the training they needed as had Liberace. It was fun - funny - poignant and the

best $12 bucks and 90 minutes I spent in Vegas. I believe that revenue from the shopping center still funds scholarships.

Short of that - Evening cocktails atop the Stratosphere Hotel Lounge provides magnificent 360 views (it rotates) and I enjoyed the

Freemont St Experience - a music/light show in the original Casino district - A domed 3 block stroll where you walk right into the

heart of the action in these old time casnos - like Binuions/Goldent Nugget etc - $2 tables - and great people watching!

Take the DUECE bus for $2bucks from the main strip up to Freemont Street.

Gay bars were not impressive and kind of a Tourist ripoff. KRAVE which is adjacent to the Hard Rock Casino and owner by them

usually has shows early - for $20-25 bucks that entittles you to free entry back later when it becomes a dance club.

ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!
