I did it once and would never do it again. it was at a walmart they had all the stuff on pallets covered in plastic and only removed the plastic once midnight hit. everyone elbow to elbow waiting. within minutes of removing the plastic those pallets were picked clean.

The frenzy of BLACK FRIDAY (Gray Thursday, Local Saturday, Cyber Monday) is an altar to consumerism gone mad. DISGUSTING.

I am a liberal democrat and have been out since 89. I also happen to consider myself a Christian and I work in service, specifically in the HR end of my business. While I am not in the poverty bracket I am sure I am at the lower end of wage earners compared to most on this board.

 

It is my opinion that this is extremely disgusting and distasteful.

 

I’m assuming this is Christmas shopping on Black Friday – is this really the spirit Christ would want these folks to embrace as they set out to honor the anniversary of HIS (Christ’s) coming to earth?

 

The behavior of ‘deal finding’ and ‘always looking for the cheapest alternatives at all cost’ is what is breaking so many families’ financial backs. When these companies sell so cheap and have profit margins so low, the margins must be made up somewhere. Especially with Walmart’s case we know it is not the Walton family but the large collective of frontline works, either directly on Walmart’s payroll or third party unorganized contract labor around the world (including those here in the US) working at poverty level wages with little to no benefits.

 

Again this makes me feel horrible as an American, Christian and human being.

 

KUDOS to the guy who went out and heckled the folks waiting in lines to get into the stores!

I think its called "Stimulating the Economy" ???? And actually what is the true meaning of the Holiday ? Many on here would say its spending time with a favorite escort and having wild crazy sex. Sounds festive enough.....But others would be appalled at that notion. Lets just say the meaning is "open to interpretation".....:o

I believe that people should be free to pursue their happiness, as long as they're not hurting anyone else. While that frenzy at Walmart is my idea of Hell on Earth, other people must enjoy it. Otherwise, why would they bother? As much as it baffles me, it's their life, and they can do what they want with it. My only concern is public safety. When large groups of people turn into a mob, it can get ugly fast. One of these days, someone's going to get seriously injured, maybe even trampled to death, in this Black Friday chaos, if it hasn't already happened. But as long as nobody gets hurt, I say go ahead, more power to ya.

 

What I find just as baffling is the scorn heaped on the Black Friday shoppers by board members, who also choose to pursue their happiness in ways that many in society would also disdain: porn, strippers, and escorts. Hundreds of dollars a session, a thousand+ for a night, tens of thousands if not six figures spent a year ... how self-indulgent! an altar to libido gone mad! DISGUSTING!!

 

Speaking of Cyber Monday, I got an awesome discount on a Corbin Fisher membership thanks to their Cyber Monday special. You want to sneer at me? If it makes you feel better about yourself, go right ahead. Just don't berate me with a bullhorn. That's really obnoxious.

Does it stimulate the economy? Yes, by increasing the Penal System and the number of inmates. Or it should!

While Black Friday is not my cup of tea, I wonder if the guy with the bullhorn would like to be publicly shamed for something he does that is perfectly legal.
