I didn't see the interview.....I was otherwise occupied and entertained this evening, but I just read an article online. Tonight was just words, blah, blah, blah. A work of redemption in him will begin when he makes restitution (2-fold, 5-fold, whatever) to people he defrauded and stripped of livelihood using his powerful allies and the courts system to squelch and punish his critics. He's worse than a cheater. He was ruthless in his pursuit to ruin the lives of everyone who exposed him. Those around him should beware of him. He's still ruthless and brutal. Watch yer back, Oprah.

The character of a man.

Once you lose your reputation, and lose it badly, it's almost impossible to get it back. Some people are capable of creating a new life and moving forward, but the clock never travels backward. History shows that reputation offenders never regain the stature they once held.

Lance Armstrong destroyed one too many lives, and he did it with a vengeance, lying to everyone the entire time. Many people will never forgive him and rightfully so. You reap what you sow in life.

My heart goes out to his children, who have to live their lives in the stain of their father's shadow.

I think you are exactly right here. For me this is the greater issue, which few are talking about. Personally the fact that he cheated is nothing compared to the fact that he knowingly and purposefully destroyed countless lives and careers.....You are right, he is "worse than a cheater"

It'll be interesting to see, as time passes, what he REALLY wants as a result of this interview.

I think that in the end it is really all about Lance. It has nothing to do with his conscience or his heart or trying to set the record straight. I believe that he is carefully trying to control the forum of public opinion as to minimize the damage that he will surely face in years of litigation, as more and more people are stepping forward to tell what really happened behind the scenes.

Not only has he not atoned for his actions, he's given an entire generation of athletes the impression of "it's okay to cheat just, just don't get caught."

I understand your thinking, however I believe the exact opposite is happening. I believe that his undoing will have a profound effect on a whole generation of athletes that realize the fall from grace is a hard and humiliating one. Well hopefully that will be the affect.

I'm hoping that BVB is right - since Armstrong has been stripped of his victories, I don't see how his case sends a message that's okay to cheat . But I'm sure there ARE some who will tell themselve, "I won't get caught"

Isn't he supposed to have one ball? I am not sure I would hire a one balled escort.

First of all, I'm sure he has a prosthesis. Second of all, you really wouldn't hire someone because they had one testicle? I can hardly think of anything I'd care less about.

In my mind, the most galling part of the whole affair was that he sued for libel and won in a British court to the tune of half a million pounds. It's interesting that there was a discussion on this forum not too long ago about the differences between the British and U.S. legal system with respect to slander and libel cases. This case seems to exemplify the fact that it's too easy to win a libel/slander case in the British legal system. In the U.S., the plaintiff would have to prove that the allegedly libelous statement was, indeed, false in order to prevail.

Disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong hit two parked cars with an SUV after a night of partying in Aspen, Colorado, but agreed to let his longtime girlfriend take the blame to avoid national attention, police reports show.

Police cited Armstrong with failing to report an accident and speeding weeks after the Dec. 28 accident, but only after his girlfriend, Anna Hansen, acknowledged lying for him.

Armstrong declined immediate comment on Tuesday. His attorney, Pamela Mackey, didn't immediately return a call.

Hansen initially told police she had been driving home from an Aspen Art Museum party when she lost control of Armstrong's GMC Yukon on icy roads, hitting the cars. She said she drove because "Lance had a little bit to drink," according to the reports.
