Saw the third preview and thought Pacino was typical pacino. overacted, dropped lines and nowhere near as good as Lemmon in the film.

Comparing a stage performance to a film performance is a dead giveaway that the reviewer has absolutely no idea what they're talking about.

That's all Pacino does nowadays: Screams!

This from the person who loved that bad drag queen Judy Garland impersonator who walked the boards last season screaming and yelling and doing Tallulah Bankhead on crack?

Operalover, I enjoyed your review of "The Heiress." I am not seeing "Glengarry Glen Ross" until December. I thought that Pacino gave good, if not particulatly nuanced performances, in "The Basis Training of Pable Hummel" and "The Resistable Rise of Arturo Ui." But, my favorite Pacino performance was in "American Buffalo" off-Broadway in a small theater. He was on fire from the moment the play started until the end.

We disagreed on Miller and Albee. But we are back together on the Judy Garland play. To be fair to Lucky, I do not think he knew much about Garland before he saw the play. I saw Garland in person and on her 1963-64 TV series on CBS.

But, I do undrstand why people who were less aware of Garland might like the play.
