Korean Airlines ???

Korean Airlines has been doing quite a TV commercial splash lately. Anyone have recent experience with them?

 

I used to hear the best for service to/from Asia (especially in business or first class) was Singapore Airlines with Cathay Pacific coming in second. Has Korean Air changed that?

I have not been on them (I've never been to Asia). Having said that, I hear they are raising their game allot and that First and Business on the A380 is excellent. I think Singapore still comes out on top in terms of the awards and is probably still considered the best in Asia. Even so, I think Korean is supposed to be very good. Hopefully someone with Asia travel experience will give you further information.

Singapore is certainly one of the top, if not the top airline in the world. I have flown them several time and each time has been excellent. I have only flown Korean Air once, and that was many years ago. It was ok, but not at the level of Singapore or even Thai. Surprisingly enough, I have had some great flights on both United and Lufthansa into and throughout Asia, but those flights were all in business or first class. The real test for an airline is always what they do in coach/economy, and Singapore really stands out in that arena. I do have a friend who flies Korean Air all the time, but he is from Korea and I think feels the national loyalty to support Korean Air. Ironically, he used to fly Northwest before it merged with Delta, but he will not fly Delta at all.

I flew with them a few years ago and it was "acceptable". i still think Singapore airlines is the best.

Never Korean Air, though I almost flew them last trip. I flew Singapore business class once, and loved it. Thai was not bad, but (don't laugh) my miles are with Northwest. I thought NW and Thai business was about the same. I have never had a problem with Northwest in all the years I have been with them, first class treatment all around. I only flew Lufthansa once and I will never do it again. Only time I ever lost luggage was on Lufthansa. Oh wait correction, I didn't lose the luggage, the airline did!!! though they made it sound like it was my fault.

I've had great experiences both in economy and business class on Singapore and Cathay. I admit that I find asian stewardesses quite charming, demure, and pretty. The service is much better even in economy.
